Question: Why doen't Cinemascore have a website showing what every movie has been rated?
They did a while ago, I think they realized giving the scores away wasn't making them money and now they sell them B2B style. You also have to consider how they advertise these movies, these scores are based on opening night surveys, and so there's no chance that people have expectations in check and are basing it purely off advertising.

Solaris was interesting but people see Clooney and Sci-fi and expect something other than what they got. Slow is a tough sell these days.

Bug could have been good but for some reason never hit the levels of paranoia that the trailer suggested, it just wasn't involving. The Box was unbelievably terrible, which was disappointing. Wolf Creek was passable and Darkness was bad.

Still, I'm curious to see how big of a drop The Devil Inside has next week.

1.4 million on Monday. That is a really bad Monday following a $34 million weekend. But then the National Championship was on that night so who knows. 1.3 million for Mission Imp. and ~1 million for Sherlock after that.

Tuesdays numbers might be a better indicator.

A -70% Sunday-to-Monday drop is normal considering:
  • It's the beginning of January.
  • Outside of The Devil Inside, everything else in theaters has been out for weeks.
  • The National Championship was on.

If you noticed, the film had a -30% drop from Friday-to-Saturday and a larger -56% drop from Saturday-to-Sunday. Every, other film at the box office this week had major Friday-to-Saturday gains and smaller Saturday-to-Sunday drops. The Sunday drop put the flick right close to the daily grosses of M:I-GP and Sherlock Holmes 2, so it's no surprise it's Monday gross was so close to the other two films.

Theaters are going to be a ghost town for the next few weeks outside of a few key films. I don't see Tuesday's performance being any better.

I don't get all the hate for this flick. It freaked me the F out big time and really caught me off guard.

Yes the ending is a little stragne but it in no way ruins the film.

Screw all of you who don't get the creeps from these types of films (I always do..horror films never scare me but flicks like this always get to me....if done right).

I found this waaaay better than expected. Some creepy exorcism scenes and the "found footage" was consistent. The ending was abrupt, but pretty standard for this type of movie. "Go visit the website" made me chuckle.
