United 93 had Paul Greengrass involved, studio backing, a legitimate and proven crew, and Gregg Henry. However, due to the nature of the film, a lot of the cast were people playing themselves. With the exception of the people on United Flight 93 for obvious reasons. [However, actors who were in the film like Cheyenne Jackson and Olivia Thirlby now have solid careers.]
He was dishing the same kind of hate for the Tintin movie to fail based on its trailer, but to his credit he eventually saw the movie (and still hated it ).

I havn't seen this propaganda piece (and I never will) but I have seen the trailers numerous times. I am just gonna say that my prediction is that this is going to be horrible and that you be able to see that in the reviews and you will also notice in the reviews how negatively this portrays the "villains" .
ALso a good way to judge the quality of something is to look for signs of any talent involved. This has no established crew who have dont any great work in the past.

It's not like Hollywood will put out movies that aren't accurate if established is involved, case in point:

The only thing he hasn't done yet is say movies stink if they are under 2 hours and not rated R
I vote or what.

People are saying those things because they think he is a poster that was banned last year. This guys screen name is almost exactly the same and many of his lists are too.

I saw the trailer and I have to confess it does look like a recruiting film for the Navy Seals. The Navy's doing a lot of advertising anyway these days.

Yeah it definitely looks like a recruiting film but so was The Hurt Locker. When people think of "propaganda" films they think of John Wayne but only because those were so blatant. These films coming out nowadays are too, they're just more subtle about it.

That said, I get the marketing angle here, but when I pay $$$ to see a movie, I prefer actors. I have a feeling the acting level here won't be much better than a soap opera or one of those Kirk Cameron religous films.

I keep thinking this is the Modern Warfare/Battlefield movie we never asked for.
Also, if these guys are on active duty, isn't it going to make secret missions more difficult?

So any movie that depicts US soldiers in anything other than a negative way is simply a propaganda/recruiting film?
What's wrong with a movie that actually has US soldiers being the good guys? Why does every war movie have to be a downer that depicts US soliders as the bad guys?
I mean Christ, just within the last year, SEAL Team 6 accomplished 2 missions (that we know about) that I can't believe could be thought of as anything but good. So, what's wrong with depicting our US soldiers as heroes for once? There have been so many negative war movies in the last decade, so what's wrong with a positive one for a change? I miss the 80's.

I don't get the "recruiting" vibe from this. I do get a weird "Christian conservative right" from it. So yes, it seems like propoganda of some sort.

The film is neither jingoistic nor aimed at recruitment/propaganda. It is about what these specific professional soldiers do. You could swap out the SEALs in this film with other special ops forces (Green Berets, Delta Force, British SAS, Israeli Defense Force, etc) and you would see a lot of the same stuff. This film just happens to highlight the SEALs.

Since when did being pro-military become "Christian conservative right"? (Top Gun is the most Christian film ever, if that's the case.) I don't get a Christian vibe at all from this one and I've seen numerous trailers.

Really? I thought THE HURT LOCKER came off as anti-war. Maybe that was just the way I viewed it.
