I like David Fincher's work, but if I ever meet him I'm going to punch him in the nuts for introducing the whole "number for letter" fad in movie titles.

OH it looks go gloriously silly and ridiculous and hopefully it'll be fun. None of these are very good but I cant help but sorta enjoy 'em. Mostly because of Milla of course. Anyone else stared in this and I would probably bail but goddammit I find her so beautiful and fascinating to watch.
Decent trailer though. Some silliness of course but some cool lookin scenes. I like the suburban scenes . Looks kinda interesting.
Will see this on 2D ONLY!

That looks like fun.
Liked the flying beasties and am intruiged by the Alice-in-what-I-can-only-call-June-Cleaver-mode sequence.

Looking forward to it; I'm just impressed that they've been able to make so many sequels in what is a moderately successful franchise, and keep up the existing story. Fun stuff.

I'm in for Retribution but I don't care (not even a little bit) about the 3D, just give it to me in 2D like usual please, thankyouverymuch... -kd5-

Bring it on. Can't believe how little I liked the first, how low and silly and eye-rolling the second one was, and how much I love these movies now.

And anyone know where the plot is headed? From the trailer, I'm guessing that there is an alliance against Umbrella and they're also fending off monsters.
I thought it during #4, and will now enjoy #5. But I'm ready for some definitive resolution. How many large scale doomsday sequels do that anyways? I don't really want to see another cliffhanger, or some ambiguous ride into the sunset. I want to see Umbrella and monsters dead and gone.
One entertaining bit about these movies is how overwhelming and advanced Umbrella operates. Umbrella's motives and operations are just as nightmarish as the zombies and monsters.

The trailer looks ok, but I'm burnt out on these. Catch it on instant watch unless it gets great reviews I guess.
And Milla Jovovich is still damn hot. Seeing Chaplin not long ago also showed me that there isn't much hotter than teenage Milla.

I enjoyed the first. Was let down by the second, though I liked the cast. Enjoyed the Road Warrior-esque third movie. And had a lot of fun with the over-the-top fourth (despite the horrid acting from the guy playing Wesker).

Like even-numbered Star Trek movies ... odd-numbered Resident Evil movies seem to work.
That trailer seemed to rehash the settings of each movie (and The Thing). It will be interesting to see how it works. I'll admit I'm a little lost at the progression ... the timeline is practically non-existant. We started in essentially the real modern-day world and within four movies moved hundreds of years into the future. Admittedly, I haven't played the games beyond the original, but did they move away from zombies and into monsters as well?

Looking forward to this I actually LOVED 2,and 4 wasnt great but I still liked it.
My ranking so far...
1.Apocalypse
2.Extinction
3.The Original
4.Afterlife
Oh and they are already talking about a sixth one, according to Anderson, and he said that it would be "the final chapter of the saga".
Interested in seeing how the dead characters return in the story. And hoping they explain the apparent MIA Ali Larter.

WTF? Did no one else notice the usage of Daft Punk's Tron Legacy theme in the trailer?
I love how the TL soundtrack is making the rounds in every fifth commercial on TV and other movie trailers now.

Well using memorable score samples from one movie to promote different movies is nothing new.

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution
This is true. Several weeks ago there was a short piece in Entertainment Weekly on the longevity of the score to The Life of David Gale, and how sections from the score have been used multiple times in trailers and TV spots.

The Life of David Gale - "Almost Martyrs" (recently heard in trailer to The Artist)

According to Wikipedia, the score has been used in the trailers for World Trade Center, Munich, In the Valley of Elah, Milk, and most recently, The Artist and The Iron Lady. But also in regular films such as The Dark Knight and I am Legend.
