Did you know, a dog has won a best actor oscar?

Rin Tin Tin the dog, won the most votes for a best actor oscar.

"In the very first year of voting for the Oscars, Rin Tin Tin received more votes than any other actor, but to avoid any embarrassment, the Academy eventually decided to award he first Best Actor to a human thespian Emil Jannings."

I demand that the academy makes up for its mistake, the dog, Rin Tin Tin won the award fair and square.

At the 2012 oscars, there better be a posthumous award.

He is also responsible for keeping Warner Brothers afloat. So without this dog we would not get many of these WB classics we've been enjoying. Amadeus, for example, or Stanley Kubrick's entire directorial filmography. The Matrix... none of these would exist in the form we know, without this animal.

By 1926 was earning $6000 a week, which is $76,600 per week when adjusted for inflation.

Look how beautiful, kind, and sensitive he looks. I love Rin Tin Tin.

I didn't realize the Academy had gone to the dogs the first year.

I can't wait to see what Jackson and Spielberg do with their new version. Thankfully they dropped the character Rin.

Unlike his BLUE ANGEL co-star Marlene Dietrich, Emil Jannings stayed in Germany and cozied up to the Nazis. He's a character in attendance at the film premiere in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. So the fact that they awarded the Best Actor Oscar to a dirty stinkin' Nazi over a patriotic All-American canine hero should incite some support for this posthumous Oscar. What would Lassie say?

I lost interest in most awards like this years ago, but I agree that this case should get a posthumous award ceremony.

As a German shepherd owner myself, I approve of this thread. And yes, I was aware of the whole Rin Tin Tin/Oscar thing.

I am reminded of how Philip Seymour Hoffman was supposed to bark his acceptance speech, but didn't go through with it.
