In fairness, this Dr. Wu is much closer to his book character than he was in the first movie.

It isn't like "this" Wu doesn't work or is out of character. Wu from 20 years ago was embarking on his dinosaur breeding endeavor. The park was unrealized when we saw it first. He's now had 20+ years of a successful park, continued to innovate, bred an entire new species and be a cutting edge scientist. That would give anyone a bit of an ego in that time span.

I haven't read the book in a decade, I should re-read it.

Eh, i'd buy that if it were portrayed or explained better on screen, otherwise that's just your own rationalization. It came off poorly to me and just felt whatever his motivations were, as well as whatever else he was involved, was extremely underdeveloped given the little bit we saw of him from the original. Felt like they were trying too hard to shoe-horn in a character from the original.

caught it last night with the wife, in a 1/2 packed theater no less!

we both thought it was great... a lot of fun from start to finish. I mean, the plot is essentially the same in all 4 movies, but the sense of history really added to the story. I really loved Bryce Dallas Howard in this. I was surprised that I thought Chris Pratt was just "OK". There simply can never, ever, ever be another Jurassic Park movie set in a theme park after this... who the fuck would ever go to it?

Wow, is this the longest-running review thread? 15 years! I just saw it and liked it. But the BDH character was annoying as all hell.
