Re: Try this character guessing application out......

It got Angel in 25 questions, one of them being "has your character ever been on Buffy the Vampire Slayer". How's that for specifics?

Darla took 19 questions, the one deal-breaker being "is your character male".

17 questions in, if I select yes on the "is your character blond" I'd probably get Eric Northman, but I'm going for Bill Compton, and he took just two more questions to get right.

Jason Stackhouse took 15 questions.

Got RoboCop in 14 questions, most of them "probably" since he sort of defies the "is your character dead" type questions.

Ben Sisko in 19 questions.

This is a lot of fun when it's not hit with "500 Internal Server Error" problems.

Took 40 questions and two wrong answers to get Martin Bishop (Sneakers).

Gypsy from MST3k In 17 guesses... not bad. I really thought it had it right after 12, but it asked a few more questions.

So this is why we invented artificial intelligence... the robots will never kill us because they'll be too busy laughing at our puny minds.

Stumped it on Captain Steven Hiller - Will Smith's character in ID4. Took almost 60 questions and still didn't get it.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

For mine it guessed:
Yossarian at 20
McHale at 30
Lt. Burnett at 40
Nic Angel at 45
Paul Baumer at 50
G. Weisler at 60

It then gave up and asked for details.

That seemed odd, so I gave it a try. Took only 17 questions for me.

At the end if it does not get it, it asks for details to add to its database.

Sturm from Dragonlance in about 25 turns. And 201 other nerds already did that one.

Yes, I tried it again afterward and it got him correct in just under 20 questions. When it got the character wrong I typed his name in, and chose him from a list of possible matches.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

There is a randomizer, so depending on which questions it leads with it can get to the correct character faster.

Some of the questions bug me, like "Is this character still alive?" for a fictional character. How do you answer that?

I just assume that's asking if the character is still alive at the end of whatever it is you're talking about (book, movie, TV show, etc.), so you just say "yes." E.g., Maria's still alive at the end of that famous musical, but Tony, Riff and Bernardo aren't.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

Stumped him with:

Thought "Does your character's name appear in the title?" would've narrowed it down easily, but at least he came up with Dolemite and Boss Ni99er.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

amazingly couldn't get Lon Chaney at all.
Got Tom Waits in 20 and Dave Grohl in 20, I quit at around 35 with it trying to get Luis Bunuel, it kept picking people around him but not him.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

crazy that it has to know so many facts about so many people. but since every question is narrowing the pool by 50 - 90 % it makes sense. like double the penny every day and you end up with millions within a month

Zuzu in 19.

Couldn't guess Tom Reagan from Miller's Crossing. (Guesses included Hitman & Harry Lime.)

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

Hmm. It got Harvey, but asked if the character had long ears after asking if it was a rabbit. If Akinator were on Wheel of Fortune, it would buy all the vowels.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

Nice. 13th & final question: Has your character played in a movie directed by Woody Allen?

My character, of course, was Woody Allen.

I think I'm done for now.

Re: Try this character guessing application out......

Took almost 65 guesses and stumped it on Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson's character from "Ransom")

Took 15 vague questions to reach what I knew was going to be the right answer, and the 16th question I had was "Has your character played in Titanic". Yes. Then to narrow it down, "is your character rich". No. Bingo: Jack Dawson.

25 questions for Jake Sully ("Avatar") and some were "is your character blue", "does your character have more than one body" and "is your character disabled".

Dammit!
