They tend to have friends/family give them bathroom/shower breaks.

In other news looks like the weather will cooperate with mild temps.

Eh, I usually don't give a shit about the Twilight fans. Like Tom said, they got people swapping out with them so they're never there for more than a few hours anyway. It's no worse than the other sub groups of nerds.

Most of all, they'll be out of Hall H in the morning anyway. Fandango has movie tickets for Captain America up at the near by UA theater. Seems they're releasing it a day early for comic con. I'm a bit excited for that if it wasn't such a bad theater.

This year seems to have me a bit bored with a lot of it. I'm thankfully only excited for one Firefly exclusive and I imagine that since a lot of the panels don't interest me, I'll be walking around and enjoying con a bit more this year.

The line-up for Hall H was pretty unimpressive, so I think I'll be all about Ballroom 20, and the surrounding area for photoshoots if I'm not inside Ballroom 20 or the exhibit hall.

Are you going to the Torchwood panel on Friday? I'm trying to find someone to save me a spot in line so I can get a ticket for the signing.

There's a good possibility I'll be in line for Torchwood (but only to try for a decent seat at the Big Bang Theory panel after it). The rest of Ballroom 20 for Friday is a minor bust (the Bones panel got canceled), as I'm not all that big a fan of Eureka or Warehouse 13, so that frees me up quite a bit, which is good.

Hahahaha. So now people are reporting that to increase security and discourage passing your ticket off to someone on the way out, everyone has to wear a wrist band that you get when you pick up your badge.

So.. if you have a 4 day, you get a wrist band to wear for 4 days. Single day ticket holders will get a wrist band for each day.

Why yes, encourage people to not shower some more.

As a reminder for those driving down from L.A. today is the opening day at Del Mar Racetrack...so expect lots of traffic around that area.

Same thing at Heroes con this year. I finally get a 3 day badge, and had to wear the wristband anyway

Wristbands or not, most people at the con don't shower anyway.

I don't get the wristband thing (if true). If the Con is non-profit, what difference does it make if someone trades badges?

Wait, you have to wear a wrist badge? I might be screwed. I was getting my pass through a friend of mine. Eff.

Are they making exhibitors also wear the wrist bands? If not then I'll be fine.

Dunno how they are supposed to enfore this when you can pick up badges for other people you've registered.

Talked to my friend. He said he's got a system worked out so I should be fine.

Comicon's hotel booking website overbooked the hotel I made reservations at last month, so I got sent to no man's land (the Kona M-F'ing Kai), but at least I'm getting 2 of the 4 nights comped by the Holiday Inn on the Bay for the double-booking mess. Getting around town for me is going to be a PITA. But, just gotta just going on and have some fun while I'm here.

Is there a good place to find deals, block rates, etc. for hotels and the like? My friends and I planning on going next year (assuming we can get tickets of course) and are already looking to book hotels to make sure we have rooms.

I dunno, I was last minute, so all that pre-planning is lost on me.

I did see that the exhibitors had to wear wristbands, it seemed.

I always recommend getting a hotel in El Cajon near the transit station and taking the trolley to the convention center. It's a 30 min ride and no hassle with parking. Hotels downtown are very convenient but very pricey. Another option is everyone pitch in and rent a condo.

Heard registration is already a cluster fuck. Why can't the Con admit they are totally overwhelmed and get some help organizing this thing?

I heard it went well. Last few years it's gone really smooth. Walked in, got badge, walked out. Line moved very fast.

Wristband went to exhibitors and IIRC single pass holders. At least that's what I remember the sheet on the pro registration table said. Preview night.. still a crowded clusterfuck.

Deodorant, people... use it!

They had to close down off-site pickup because of the line, lots of people jerked around. In other words... a cluster.
