That would explain why in there are no black people anymore after the whites move in.

That's it! The great white is really The Great White Man! And he's gentrifying the beach so he can have it all to himself. Brilliant.

A remake of Jaws? That would be a disaster! Jaws is a classic.

If they dared do it, you can bet the remake of "The Godfather" wouldn't be too far off.

Yeah exactly. It's like that sequel to Tremors that took place in 1872, It would tell the back story of why black people don't swim.

And the Godfather remake should be done entirely with the cast of the Jersey Shore. With Snookie as Connie. Someone should do this for the MTV Movie Awards or something. That would be a very funny parrody.

If only James Gammon was still alive.

I'll stick some differences that I recall (I read it a long, long time ago) in a spoiler tag, just in case anyone is reading the novel...
Spoiler:

- The already mentioned Hooper/Mrs. Brody affair.

- In the final section of the story, the Orca boat returned to port every night then went out again hunting the shark the next morning.

- On one occasion, they caught a small shark and Quint, in order to show how sharks behave to Brody, cuts open the small shark's stomach and throws it back in the sea. From the boat, they then watch the dying shark swim around and eat what's coming out of the hole in its stomach, and the stuff it swallows then falls out of the hole in its stomach again and again as the shark keeps on circling and eating the same stuff repeatedly.

- The shark kills Hooper in the cage, and then surfaces with his body in its jaws as if to show it off to Chief Brody and Quint.

- Quint is not eaten but instead is killed by drowning when a barrel rope tangles around his leg and he, hanging on the rope, is dragged underwater by the shark. (A very Captain Ahab-like death.)

- The shark doesn't blow up, it instead dies from its wounds due to all the barrels attached to it, while in the process of swimming up to kill Chief Brody, who is floating helplessly in the ocean after the Orca sinks.

Re: If they remade Jaws...

If we're recasting, I'll break it down and think more of it being closer to the book. There's no reason or way to redo what Spielberg did and a shot for shot remake would be horrible. The book was more of a drama with the shark being secondary.
