Saw it tonight at an advance screening.
Really wanted to love it like I did the first, but it was totally underwhelming and light on the laughs. The tone is also allot darker.
2 stars.

I had low hopes for this... but the consensus is that it's even worse than I thought. Bummer -- but another example of why a movie like this doesn't need a sequel.

That is my thoughts as well... only one of the trailers really got me in the mood to see it. All the others were been there done that. This is exactly the feeling of dread I had about it from the beginning.

Will hopefully see this tonight, looking forward to it. (I have shockingly low requirements for comedy and even enjoyed Your Highness. As long as, you know, it's still a comedy and doesn't somehow morph into My Big Fat Greek Wedding halfway through.)

It was a very popular, horribly unfunny, sappy romantic comedy.

Re: The Hangover: Part II (Phillips, 2011) — The Reviews Thread
You know, I could almost forgive that this is a beat for beat remake of the first one storywise, if there were laughs to be had... but somewhere around the 1/2 way point the funny STOPS. I was really with it at first, not as funny as before but there were still laughs - it's hard to pinpoint the exact moment that the movie 'turned' for me, but boy did it ever. There was a 30 minute span where the entire theatre was SILENT. For a comedy that is unforgiveable IMO. That lack of laughs just makes the lazy, rehashed plot all the more glaring. Also, having supporting players from the first movie show up in this as different characters was annoying and added to the 'this - AGAIN!?' feeling of the whole thing. A few great moments but not something I'd feel the need to revisit anytime soon - this is coming from someone who saw the first 3 times in theatres and can pretty much quote the entire flick.

Jamie Chung is hot. She plays the unlikely fiancee of Ed Helms in the movie. If the movie were about her and not about those three jerks, I might be inclined to see it. (Hey, I saw DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION for her. )

Yes, but the true test is if you got Sucker Punched for her.

I saw it last night at the midnight show. Lots of laughs but the last 1/3 of it was pretty much void of any big laughs. The first one was much better, but I still enjoyed this one.

Word of warning, Peter Travers' review in Rolling Stone gives away the cause of the blackout/Hangover. I wish I hadn't read it, even if I'm not excited about the film.
