I watched a Hollywood movie on TV some 10 years ago, and I loved it. But I haven't been able to identify it so far.

The plot is as follows: A young man starts to live alone in a big city of the USA (perhaps Washington). One day he mysteriously loses all his identification documents, and when he comes home he sees other people living there. Then he receives a briefcase from someone he doesn't know. In the briefcase, he finds new IDs prepared for him under another name, and an apartment key and address. When he goes to this address, he meets a young woman waiting for him. With time, he realizes that these were prepared by the US intelligence and he will be used in the assassination of the Russian (not Soviet) president -or another high-ranked person.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

If only I knew the actors/actresses... But, let me say, there was no superhero-kind of actor, and the guy in the leading role was a modest-looking young man at his 20-30s.

uhm....there all kinds of superheroes..too broad of a way to not distinguish an actor from anyone else.

Well, I mean, there is nobody such as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Brad Pitt in the cast. The leading actor is just an ordinary guy, who tries to extricate himself from the scheme. I even doubt if he ever fights in the movie.

This was among the thrillers that I've enjoyed most, but as nobody knows it, I'm starting to suspect that I saw it in my dream.

Could it be the remake of The Manchurian Candidate? I haven't seen it, so I'm not sure how much the plot differs from the original.

Reminds me of Cypher but that had no assassinations in it.
