Re: Post your favorite subtitled films.

Too many great foreign films to even begin to contemplate, but topping my list are Au Revoir Les Enfants, Spoorlos, Monsieur Hire, The Old Gun (Le Vieux Fusil), Christiane F., The Ear (a.k.a. Ucho), and Le Trou.

I can't believe no one has said The Lives of Others or Il Mare.

they are when you consider British and Australian/New Zealand films are generally not subtitled and there are so many good ones from those areas. i purposely intended to not say "foreign".

Hard Boiled
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Brotherhood of the Wolf

Don't know if Inglorious Basterds counts, even if a lot of it is subtitled.

I have to admit, there have been more than one Scottish or Irish film where I have turned subtitles on, particularly in certain scenes, just to be able to comprehend what the characters were saying.

Re: Post your favorite subtitled films.

I'm surprised that someone actually mentioned Irreversible. While it was a very well acted and directed French Film, I don't think I could ever sit through seeing

Spoiler:
Monica Bellucci's pregnant Alex being viciously raped & beaten to a pulp for almost 15 minutes again.

I forgot to also mention Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow and The Killer

I believe this film is subtitled, although I don't need them.

I Fully agree on your first 3, still haven't seen IB yet though. Also, Crying Freeman, Wicked City, 8th Man and the Ringu Series. I have a thing for live-action anime and good Japanese horror .

Pretty much impossible for me to narrow down to just a few titles...so I will just post 4 of my favorites that have not been mentioned yet:

I think that, as of right now, only posts #10 and #11 have given correct responses to the question.
