Insidious vs THIC

I have not seen Insidious yet but have just watched THIC. Based off the trailer for Insidious, it appears they share the same plot. I've just watched THIC and thought it was very good. For those of you that have seen both, is Insidious basically a ripoff of THIC? In THIC, the boy is haunted by spirits that inhabit the house. In Insidious, it appears the same thing happens. So how are these two films different and which one is better?

Haven't seen it, but based on the OPs description... THIC = The Haunting in Connecticut??

Re: Insidious vs THIC

In Insidious the boy is in a "coma". The family, or mainly the mother is the one haunted by demons.

I saw Insidious in the theater and I enjoyed it much much more so then Haunting in Connecticut, which I thought was garbage. Then again, i'm also a fan of the director of Insidious.

Re: Insidious vs THIC

Why do people love to use acronyms on here so much without spelling it out in the OP at least once? I love haunted house films, and I have no fucking clue what "THIC" is.

I'm with you, though. It's not native to here, but I've always disliked it.

well if it's a WELL KNOWN movie like say...T2...which is also it's shorthand title in general anyway...it's fine.

THOC...I honestly didn't know wtf that was.

if you put: OUATITW...people here would know wtf that was. THIC? Wtf is that? that's what you get.

I didn't like THIC as much as GTOL but dug it way more than OCSWIT. For this sub genre of film you can never top WISQOLP though.

A more interesting comparison would be between TH, TLoHH, and THoHH.

If I'm going to watch a story in this genre, I always choose TGAMC.

I hope people remember this thread the next time I go into one with a shitload of acronyms. I actually agree with you guys but since it's done to death so much on not only this forum but at a lot of other movie forums, I thought I'd just join the club

By the way I don't know what "OUATITW" is. Honestly.

...it means Once Upon A Time In The West. We use that all the time here when we talk about it.

You do, maybe. I got it, but out of context, why would anyone who cared about fostering intelligent discussion write it that way without a cursory explanation?

Re: Insidious vs THIC

And to answer your question OP, they are completely different other than very very basic similarities. (to from now on to be referred to VVBS)

Pssh. CZJ, OW, LN, and LT were laughable. I assume you are referring to the JH, CB, RT, and RJ version. Sometimes it's FBTLTETYI. If you know what I mean...

Trapping Hookers in Cars?
Transvestites Harvesting ID Cards?
Traditional Homebrew Incandescent Craters?
The Hours in Canada?

All very good flicks, BTW.

Re: Insidious vs THIC

THIC plays it totally straight. Indisidious walks the line between playing it straight and just having a whole lot of fun with the concept. I found it to be just a total blast to watch.

^That's awesome considering my "FBTLTETYI" was an acronym for "For the Best To Leave The Effects To Your Imagination".
