Everything Must Go--a subduded Will Ferrell

A low keyed performance, looks like a nice little film.

looks neat. Something about the tone of that trailer gives me that indie generic vibe thing. Besides that...I'll keep an eye on it.

The trailer looks promising. I've been waiting for Ferrell to give another performance similar to what he did in Stranger Than Fiction. He's actually a pretty good actor when he's not doing all the stupid low-brow stuff.

I highly recommend checking out Raymond Carver's short story on which this is based. It's a quick read. You can read it here: http://nasonart.com/personal/lifeles...tYouDance.html.

He's by far my favorite author.

Caught this today, I found it to be quite enjoyable. It was really nice to see Ferrell showing his range. Definitely worthwhile.

I saw this today, and thought Ferrell did a great, understated job. Biggie Smalls' son Chistopher Wallace jr did a great job as well.

Just saw this, and thought it was a really excellent film. Ferrell is very low-key and believable, with a slightly uncomfortable dark edge at times. Very touching, not too upbeat or downbeat, just a cool , slice-of-life character study on a guy who's down on his luck.

Re: Everything Must Go--a subduded Will Ferrell

I don't understand why so many think Will Ferrell is funny, with the exception of Elf, every bit of comedy I've seen of his is atrocious. There was a bit on Family Guy(I cartoon which I do not normally watch) that I thought hit the nail on the head if anybody cares to look for it, now that was funny. But this guy's like the contemporary Paulie Shore. Him at the top of the comedy actors A list is why I have low expectations for the comedy genre. Anybody agree? We should start a poll.

Comedy is subjective. Make a poll if you want. Paulie Shore had a gimmick...it didn't last. Ferrell is a funny guy to people. I'd rather watch a Ferrell film over all of Sandler's films except for Funny People. I myself am not a big Ferrell fan but I've enjoyed a few of his works.

I agree. Paulie Shore is ridiculus and I dislike Adam Sandler films or his comedy in general, as well as Ben Stiller and a lot of their contemporaries (I promise, there are comedians I DO like).

I happen to really enjoy Stranger then Fiction and was pleasantly surprised with Will Ferrell's preformance in it and am happy to say I also thought Everything Must Go was a great movie as well.

Re: Everything Must Go--a subduded Will Ferrell

Excellent little indie film. I wish Ferrell would do more stuff like this, he shows he's more than just a man child in stupid comedies (which admittedly are usually funny). It wouldn't entirely surprise me if one day Ferrell wins an Oscar for a dramatic role...or at least gets nominated.
People use Bill Murray as a comparison, who started his career in stand up and doing purely comedic roles in films. Now the guy is considered among the best actors around. Perhaps one day the same can be said for Ferrell (you'll agree with me if you've seen this or Stranger Than Fiction).
