Not sure why that guy has such a hard-on for Scientology. He's been dogging them for years, and he's had zero effect. Time to move on, dude.

Re: Knowledge Report (New Scientology Documentary from Mark Bunker)
A lot of young Scientologists in Hollywood like Suplee, Jason Lee, Giovanni Ribisi and Beck are 2nd or 3rd-generation Scientologists. Would a documentary like this exist mocking the ridiculous religious beliefs of someone raised into Christianity?
Scientology is crazy. We get it.

Scientology was created to be a joke on rich stupid people. Is there really any other explanation?
The South Park Episode was more than enough info for anyone, I don't really need this guy making a documentary.

I'm thinking about how much people acting in the name of Scientology have affected my life.
Now I'm think about how much people acting in the name of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc. have affected my life...
Not even a contest. Get over it you old fuck.

Scientology isn't as old as those religions. Give them time and I'm sure they can catch up.

At least the adherents of the old religions have the plausible deniability of not being around when the big stuff was allegedly happening (God talking to people, miracles, etc.), so can't really say for sure that it isn't true.
Scientologists are well aware when their religion started, many of them were even alive at the time, and that it was started by a B-grade science fiction writer who once said that the quickest way to make a million bucks was to start a religion. These people really are the definition of gullible.

The length of time a religion's been around makes no real difference as to whether or not people are perfectly willing to believe a load of nonsense they know isn't true.
I don't get the mad hate on Scientologists. Is the stuff the believe batshit insane? Without question! But I don't see them flying planes into buildings or picketing soldiers funerals or some other fringe lunacy that affects people other than themselves. So they beat the crap out of each other behind closed doors or embezzle money from their adherents or hook themselves up to machines that audits them to some higher level or believe human spirits come from a volcano in Hawaii? Good for them! Doesn't make "Eyes Wide Shut" a lesser movie. Although Anne Archer can go pound sand...

Looks interesting enough, but Mark Bunker seems like a douche.
Harassing Ethan Suplee? Really? The guy whose shining moment in the world of Hollywood was staring at a Magic Eye picture of a sailboat?

Yes. Yes I do. That's EXACTLY what I believe.
I'm also saying the shit they do doesn't affect my life one damn bit. I don't see Scientologists raising cash to support strike down gay rights in California, for example. They seem to keep to themselves when it comes to public policy. I couldn't care less what crazy shit they believe. How is it any of YOUR business?
And if they are breaking the law, then of course, investigate and prosecute if required. I probably shouldn't have to reiterate that simple premise, of course, but then again this is is the Internet...

I have family inside of scientology that I haven't seen for years; so yeah, it kind of is my business.
They've been forced to disconnect with any family members that aren't scientologists. If they don't, they'll be labeled an SP and forced out. But scientology holds the key to their eternity, right?, so of course they're going to cut us off

But no matter how it affected me, it was still a private, personal issue that didn't impinge upon anyone else. When private ideology attempts to become public policy (or, even worse, violent criminality), then I have got major, MAJOR problems with that group. Mormons banding together to support Prop 8 in CA, with the full sanction of their Church, bothers me more than anything any Scientologist group ever did.

Re: Knowledge Report (New Scientology Documentary from Mark Bunker)
ah...from what wikipedia says:
I'm just right now trying to register wtf all that in that quote is.
Suppressive Person, often abbreviated SP, is a term used in Scientology to describe the "antisocial personalities" who, according to Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard, make up about 2.5% of the population. A statement on a Church of Scientology website describes this group as including notorious historic figures such as Adolf Hitler.[1]
The term is often applied to those whom the Church of Scientology perceives as its enemies, i.e. those whose "disastrous" and "suppressive" acts are said to impede the progress of individual Scientologists or the Scientology movement.[2]
One of the reasons Scientology doctrines portray Suppressive Persons as such a danger is that they are supposed to make people around them become Potential Trouble Source (abbreviated PTS). Scientology defines a PTS as "a person who is in some way connected to and being adversely affected by a suppressive person. Such a person is called a potential trouble source because he can be a lot of trouble to himself and to others."[3] PTSes are said to make up 17.5% of the population
