Eric Stoltz in Cameron Crowe movies

Cropwe and Stoltz are good buddies and Crowe is on record numerous times as saying that he has Stoltz in ever yone of his movies, but on the comment track for Jerry Magwire, Cruise says that Stoltz didn't make it into vanilla Sky, and despite Crowe's saying there is a reference to Stoltz inAlmost Famous I haven't found it.

So help an semi-aging scumclown out, is Stoltz in Famous and Sky and if so, where?

Peace out to the freaks!!!

Stoltz did film roles in Almost Famous and Vanilla Sky, but he was replaced by Michael J. Fox.

Maybe he was originally Red Dog in Almost Famous.

Was he in Elizabethtown?

Re Almost Famous from imdb.com...

This is the first Cameron Crowe movie not to feature a cameo by Eric Stoltz. (Stoltz was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Singles (1992), Say Anything... (1989) and Jerry Maguire (1996).) Stoltz was supposed to play David Bowie in Almost Famous but that didn't work out. Crowe admitted they broke the streak and promised that Stoltz would do a double cameo in his next film, which would be Vanilla Sky (2001). Although, while the theatrical version doesn't feature Stoltz, Crowe stated in the "Untitled" DVD commentary that the Untitled version does include a reference of some sort to Stoltz, thus keeping the streak alive. Crowe encourages fans to try and find the reference in the film.

Stoltz as Bowie would've been AWESOME.

What happened to Crowe? Its been years since Elizabethtown, which was absolutely horrible, but I love all his other stuff.

Re: Eric Stoltz in Cameron Crowe movies

I think Elizabethtown wasn't as terrible as many say -- it's the bones of a good 90 minute movie but with about 30 minutes of really indulgent missteps. I'd still watch mediocre Cameron Crowe over most people's films though.

I keep hearing he's working on various projects, but 6 years after Elizabethtown is a long hiatus...

I went into Elizabethtown expecting the worst, but came out really enjoying it. I don't know if it has much replayability though. Of course, I live not to far from where it was filmed so that helps too.

To be fair I absolutely despise Paula Dean, and dont really like Orlando Bloom or Dunst.

The fact that I even went to see it in the theaters despite the casting speaks volumes about how much I love Crowe's films.

Cameron has been working on a Pearl Jam doc and just started making We Bought a Zoo with Matt Damon.

I think Elizabethtown was an ambitious failure. I don't hate the movie, but it just isn't that good and is nowhere close to his other output.

I have the untitled ie bootleg version and have watched it numerous times and haven't found any "reference to Stoltz. And I've been completely sober every time, which I'm sure some asspig will say is exactly the problem, har-dee-har-har.

I just started watching the DC. At 3:06 "we" pass by Rocky's Surf Shop. I don't remember if that was in the original version.
