Debating to go see it or not and wanted your opinion if you had seen it.

It was merely alright. Hopkins was kind of interesting but kind of hammy at times, and the rest of the cast was lifeless and uninspired. I didn't think the lead could carry the role at all. There have been better horror movies and better exorcism movies made.

I guess I'll wait to rent it on DVD.

Damn, I was looking forward to this. I'll wait for more reviews before I write it off though.

I hadn't even heard of it and then got talked into seeing it on Friday night. There wasn't anything you haven't seen before. I wanted to leave half way through but since I was at The Alamo Drafthouse, it's a little more difficult to do that. If you must see it, wait for DVD.

Yeah I got dragged to see The Rite. Completely bland and uninspired. As previously mentioned the lead actor was leaden, the story trite and Hopkin's performance was full of ham and his usual tics.

I'd give it 1.5/5.

Just saw this last night on Blu and maybe because my expecations were lowered from comments I actually liked it. I went to catholic school for 6 years and I thought Hopkins did a good job aside his usual tics which I actually like he played a convincing priest.

Movie was alright. Not really anything I'd watch again, but it was okay.

I was excited to see it because I love Anthony Hopkins and I find Catholic mysticism really interesting but it was a let down. The film was actually pretty boring and the young male actor, who is supposed to be the main character was... pretty much lifeless. It was like he was half asleep, bored, indifferent, and stoned. It was more than playing the part of a cynical person, he was just dead. So on the whole I wouldn't recommend paying a lot of money to see the movie.

I finally saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was terrible. It felt like I was watching a crappy DTV film.
