Elvis wanted to do it, but Colonel Tom Parker, his manager, was angry that Streisand did not come to him first. He told the producers that if they wanted Elvis, Elvis's name had to be at the top of the movie poster, above Streisand's name.
Moreover, it was said that he asked them for a very large sum of money. Elvis hadn't been in a movie since 1969, and nobody knew what he could do at the box-office, because of all that, Elvis Presley didn't make the movie, although he had been Streisand's first choice since the beginning of the project.

I mean it's the fourth time this story has been filmed. How spoiler-y could it possibly be? I do wish it was just the performance though.
Speaking of the fourth time, I was thinking :This has to be the first time that an original story has been made four times as an English language motion picture, right? As opposed to, say, Little Women or Hamlet which are in the public domain and can be made by anyone. A Star is Born is unique in that way I think.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers has four versions with a fifth in development. King Kong has had four iterations. I'm sure there are others.

I’m seeing this Thursday night.
Apparently there is a special showing on Wednesday that will show some extra footage from the premiere event.
There is another one tomorrow, which A-List doesn’t cover, that will give you a free copy of the soundtrack.

This is tracking around $30mil opening. I don't know... I feel like it will open larger than that... I've had a lot of people tell me and overheard people say they can wait to see this. People who don't even normally go to movies. I think this may be another one of those 2018 WB surprise openings.

I agree also the marketing has been really solid, the main song is VERY catchy, it is blowing up on RT and every female friend I know wants to see it. Hell, I think I want to see it and I have not seen any of the previous versions.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release A Star Is Born Special Encore Edition. The Blu-ray release will be available for purchase on June 4.
Studio description: This special edition of the film contains extended performances of such songs as opener "Black Eyes," "Alibi," and Lady Gaga's Ally in her impromptu a cappella performance of "Shallow," which received the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 91st Annual Academy Awards, following Cooper and Gaga's moving performance during the ceremony. Fans will also be treated to never-before-seen footage of Ally singing to Jack "Is That Alright?" in the wedding sequence, Jack in his studio singing "Too Far Gone," Jack and Ally writing a new song together, entitled "Clover," and much more, totaling nearly 12 additional minutes.
A Star Is Born Encore will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $29.98 and features a Blu-ray disc with both the theatrical version of the film and the Encore version of the film in hi-definition, along with a DVD of the theatrical version of the film and previously released special features. Fans can also own A Star Is Born Encore via purchase from select digital retailers beginning on June 4. Fans who have already purchased "A Star Is Born" on iTunes and Vudu will be able to watch A Star Is Born Encore under Extras of "A Star Is Born" starting June 4.
The Blu-ray disc of A Star Is Born Encore will feature a Dolby Atmos soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar. Anyone get the new Encore Edition Blu? Dolby Atmos, I believe. I love the movie and only had digital. So, this was no brainer. Oh shit, just read the Encore Edition will open as an extra on my current digital copy? Got to check that now. Maybe no need for disc...

But the article also says Vudu and one would figure MA. Vudu doesn’t even have separate title for it to buy like MA.
