Here were the best picture nominees for 1995:

Apollo 13
Babe
Braveheart
Il Postino
Sense and Sensibility

If we're going to argue that Seven, 12 Monkeys, Heat, and Casino (and others) should have been nominated, I'd rather replace every candidate other than Babe.

The Addiction

Dead Presidents
Strange Days (is this a joke?)
Rob Roy
12 Monkeys
The Usual Suspects
Leaving Las Vegas
Casino
Dead Man Walking
Sorry, but the only pictures on this list that deserve a Best Picture nomination IMO are the ones I made bold. And I like most of them. But that doesn't make them Best Picture worthy.

And really guys, still going on about Heat? Hasn't age and maturity revealed what a lot of people saw in 1995: it's just not that good

12 Monkeys was the best film of 1995 and anyone who disagrees can teach their grandmother to suck eggs.

I didnt even know Babe was nominated for Best Picture. I liked it in like the late 90's but haven't seen it in over 10 years. maybe i will pick up the BR and give it a chance again

BTW, Il Postino SUCKS and should have never been nominated

I agree with this. Babe definitely should have been nominated. The others are question marks and all could easily be replaced. I really like Braveheart but there were probably better options than that too. Like you said, if all of them, other than Babe, were replaced with at least some of the movies you mentioned and/or some others that were released that year that would have been fine. Babe should have definitely stayed though.

Is it the best movie ever? No, but like somebody else said there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. That doesn't necessarily make it perfect but I can't think of any way it could be improved upon.

Great movie and I absolutely loved it. I had no interest in seeing it because it was a talking pig movie but my dad more or less dragged me to it because he heard a good good review on the radio. Really glad I ended up seeing it.
