I'm skeptical about this, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of Snyder's extreme slow-mo "style." Sucker Punch was dreadful...

That suit is going to look so cool in front of a green screen while shot in slow motion, then speeded up for no reason, then wait for it, back to slow motion.

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

I have not seen Watchmen, but I'm curious (for like comparison) what people were saying when the first photos of that came out. Were people saying the costumes looked off? The reason I ask is because IMDB lists Alex McDowell as the Art Designer for Superman and he also worked on Watchmen. Same goes for the costume designer Michael Wilkinson; although he worked on Tron Legacy and Sky High. I know Sky High is more of a kids film, but at least the costumes seemed to work on screen.

i like it. out of context, it's the best looking shot we've seen of a superhero costume lately (captain america, thor, spiderman, etc.)

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

well...looking at the Watchmen thread we had....seems like we got a first look at the suits from the trailer. And we all pretty much like the look of it. Some griping about Ozymandias' look in the film though...he had a Batman and Robin kind of suit.

This is what we got in terms of a 1st image from what I can find in the Watchmen thread:

VERY cool trailer..

He looks like some 40 year old italian guy from the 80's. The scaly texture looks like shit, and the fake muscles just look too big. Watch his neck look too skinny in that thing. The hair is the worst. ugh ugh ugh.

I like it - the scales are just something that's gonna have to grow on you (no pun intended).

Supes is still my fav - hopefully this one will be great - It appears I am a pretty big fan of Snyder overall as well - I actually really dug SuckerPunch

What about the non-action scenes? Those are the ones I'm worried about.

That's basically it.

I'm willing to give it a chance mainly because of the cast that's been assembled as Snyder's track record is spotty.

I don't want a Christopher Reeve retread. But I also don't Superman to look like shit. This is the latter.

Routh's suit had a lot of texture too. Even tiny 'S' all over the S Shield. Texture is over tights now a days

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

The suit looks plastic material. Some of the sweatiest balls ever this Superman is going to have.

Hell even Reeves sweated profoundly at the end of Superman II when he picked up Zod with one arm, you can see the large underarm sweat spot on his suit. I can't imagine wearing a plastic suit if I was a superhero.

Funny how the Returns suit--which everybody thought looked "darker"--looks infinitely brighter than this one.

The 2 shots are completely different in terms of lighting though. Routh's was shot in daylight while this one is full of shadows.
