Phil Hartman
I'd always appreciated his work before, but once he was gone you were able to clearly see the void he left in entertainment.

Re: Actors you've appreciated more since their deaths?
He came here to Utah to film a role in a "made for Mormons" movie called Church Ball. He met his future ex-wife on the set. They started out as friends, and she started selling his "memorabilia" on eBay. He autographed everything in the auctions, which never went much past $20. Eventually their friendship turned to love, they got married, had some horrible fights, got divorced and didn't tell anyone, then he fell on his head and died.

The correct answer for me could almost be "all of them"!
Whenever an actor passes away, I'll find myself scanning their filmography and recognizing an underappreciated role and/or a movie that I've forgotten about. Or as it's kind of been mentioned, if I watch a movie now and observe someone who's no longer alive, I tend to value them a bit more and think about the void they've left behind.
