It looks good until he starts talking. The lips look rubbery and he starts acting like a bobble head. Unless they totally rework that, it'll be cringe-worthy.

Sorry, George Lucas's get out of jail free card has long since been cashed in.

Re: Star Wars SEQUELS Rumored!

I've loved Star Wars my entire life. I was very very heavily into it. But halfway through season one of the Clone Wars I finally got burnt out on it. I just can't take anymore. Maybe, just maybe I'd watch them again on Blu-ray. But these little extras are not getting any reaction out of me. Going back to theater in 3D? I won't be going. I have seen these movies so many times it is not even funny. I can quote every second of them. I just cannot muster any excitement at all. I've lost faith in them as well. Will they add even more new shots to the movies? Tweak special effects even more? Deleted scenes they've been holding back on purpose for all of this time? Milk it to death George.

It was a great run! But they stretched it to death. The novels just went on and on until it just wasn't Star Wars anymore. Episode 10, 11, & 12? The chance of totally ruining them are so high it's not even funny. Of course they'll go back and make 7, 8, & 9 later as if George planned this all from the beginning. Even after he dies and some successor takes over they'll act like this was always the plan / the dream. These films are so far off I am not even gonna worry about them right now.

TV show? No characters from the movies except for Boba Fett possibly in his own series? TV budget? I'll have to see this to believe it and judge it then. I am not the least bit excited. Everything I have heard sounds terrible. The problem with it is that it wont be Star Wars-like enough. Generic sci-fi drama show that happens to be a Star Wars show.

Star Wars ... Star Trek ... two huge sci-fi franchises. But they didn't leave much room for anyone else. For all of these years I thought something else would come out to take their place. Something new! A new sci-fi epic! But nope. Now we'll have more sequels to both franchises. Nothing else. No one else can even try since these two giants won't ever go away!

Maybe it will all work out? All I know is that when I went to Skywalker Ranch so many years ago George Lucas was like everything. I thought he was the greatest. Now I'd like to take a dump on his front lawn. He sucks!

In closing to all of these announcements ... I wish Onslaught would show up at Skywalker Ranch and after thrashing George Lucas say "The Dream is Dead!". (I hope some Marvel fans or players Of Marvel Vs. Capcom got this.)

I love quotes like this. As if EVERYONE replying on this thread wouldn't watch the movies if only to judge how shitty they are and say "I told you so!"... come on, SW is one of, if not THE most polarizing movie franchise of all time and we'd all see it either at the theaters or on DVD / digital media. But don't say you have no interest if so and so is writing/directing/grip boy.

Actually, I haven't watched one second of the Clone War Cartoons, or the movie that came out 2 years. It has actually gotten good reviews overall, atleast a hell of alot better then the Prequels. But I have no interest in SW anymore, because I finally realized after Episode III that I was naive to think that Lucas could put out anything in the quality of Star Wars or Empire. I realized that Star Wars really jumped the shark in 1983, as it started with Jedi. It has alot of sentimental value to me, and a few great scenes, so I can live with that as the final leg of the Original Triloy. Everything since then, IMO, has been shit, so I'm not stupid to think that Lucas is going to give us something good or great.

The only fun thing of Star Wars anymore is arguing with Fanboys who defend the PT

I've not watched the cartoons either. I have no interest in another TV show commitment... especially one that is geared more towards getting my kids involved in the SW universe than it is towards keeping me involved.

My point was that if it's just a 2 hour movie, you'll watch (maybe YOU won't but the majority of peole who say they won't are fooling themselves). There's no commitment beyond that; unlike a tv show that gets fleshed out over weeks / months.

It's also ironic that people are posting in this thread but claim to have no interest in the SW universe anymore.

I say bring on the movies but I have reserved expectations. I'll watch them but I've also watched Kitty Galore and both Alvin and the Chipmunk movies in the last two years too; I suspect anything Lucas does should be better than those movies

I do agree with you that there will SW fans who hated the PT go see more movies, thats just natural. Why do people keep going to the same Horror movies sequels, action movie sequels, etc, because alot of moviegoers like familiarity.

But I am suprised by my friends of the level of 'don't really care' when I told them about the BluRay movies and the possible Sequel Trilogy. I think people have been burned too many times, and most people like me have lost hope that any future movie will be ESB quality. Trust me, I remember in the spring of 2005 telling my friends, "Episode III will be as great as ESB, this is the one Lucas will get right."

I wont make that mistake again, because I know he can't pull it off.

Re: Star Wars SEQUELS Rumored!

Wasn't this rumored a long time ago. I remember hearing bout this before the prequels even came out.

My only hope is that he doesn't write them, which likely won't happen.

I'm disappointed we'll now have to wait a little bit longer to see those "small, personal" movies Lucas promised after Episode III.

I really would like to see Lucas get back to making movies like THX 1138 or some more indie style type movies, too. But let's face it, the only thing that will milk money for him out of wallets of people across the globe will always be Star Wars.

Episodes 7, 8 and 9 were rumored a LONG time ago, but never seriously. And there were no rumors of episodes beyond that that I can recall.

Re: Star Wars SEQUELS Rumored!

This report was pretty accurate. Hope Luke and the others aren't completely absent as it indicates, though.

Before the prequels even came out there were boards with people who "couldn't wait" for 7 8 and 9. I'm sure those people have died by now holding their breath.

The best things is now George can't change them anymore. Maybe now they'll do an original OT

Oh, Lucas was entirely serious about it. He had plans for letting a different writer and director do each film, but then Kershner went over-schedule and over-budget on Empire, putting Lucas' fortune at risk, and he decided. After that Lucas became risk averse, crammed the plot for the rest of the series into Jedi, and hired a hack director he could control. The Annotated Screenplays and The Secret History of Star Wars both have details on what the extended series would've involved.

I've only seen Episode 2 once on DVD, and I hit "skip" every time Anakin and Padme had a scene together; I never watched Episode 3. Do episode VII with a decent writer and director, though, and I'll be there.

Damn, just re-read the first post and IESB nailed it. Lucas must have really had these plans in his back pocket for years.

Ha! I forgot all about this post. In hindsight the Disney deal makes perfect sense though.

I'm going to just say we have three periods of Star Wars now. 77-85, 91-2012, and now '12-?
