Got this little quote from an LA Times article on Dimension:
"Piranha 3DD, "a follow-up to 2010's schlock hit "Piranha 3D", is complete and was supposed to come out in late 2011. Dimension now plans on releasing it simultaneously in theaters and via video-on-demand at a to-be-determined date.

You actually shoot the sequel in 3D say unlike the first, but that comment does not guarantee the film a wide release. A simultaneous theatrical and on-demand release guarantees the film in most likely 100 locations, if not less, and most of them probably being independent chains and theaters. I don't want to see the film in 2D. I want to see it in 3D!
... and with my luck, it will probably not come to Vegas. However, we did get the Weinstein's Diary of the Dead during its brief 50-screen release ...

Pretty much the same trailer we had 2 months ago. Looks like the substituted the "Double the D" part with "Double the Fun", so less boobs and more Hoff.

Per Box Office Mojo, this is only opening on 75 screens. It doesn't appear to be showing anywhere in my area so it looks like I'll be going the VOD route.

The first was a total guilty pleasure, and really a decent flick. However this opening on 75 screens and the terrible reviews seem to be pointing to it just being a terrible, terrible movie.
