After Iron Man 2, I expect Scarlett Johansson to be double teamed at some point by Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle.

After Iron Man 2, I expect Jon Favreau to become The Black Widow while Oprah Winfrey is cast as MODOK.

Hmmm ... I wonder if Disney would try using the Mandarin or go with another juiced up mecha foe. I'm hoping for something a little different next time out.

I'd hardly call Iron Man 2 a shitfest. There's some issues, and I don't think it was as good as the first, but the general reception is still very positive.

It was alright. Not IM1 good but it was alright. Gave you a bit of this and that..but it wasn't to it's fullest potential in those areas.

That's what I get for forgetting to use a smiley when I employ hyperbole in a forum. Oh wait...
Still, it does get worse the more I see it. Sure there's some fun to be had but it hardly masks how poorly constructed the film is. It's actually quite sloppy. It's essentially The Lost World: Jurassic Park of the franchise.

I liked IM2 (but I loved IM1, so it was a bit disappointing). The biggest problem was that it was too rushed into production, oddly paced, and could have done with some more judicious editing. The timing was just... off. Still, I look forward to party 3 with the Gestapo.

I too like the second one more than the first but still don't think either are more than good films. I think the first one was even-keeled because they didn't want to add more risk to a risky premise of making a blockbuster from a less-popular comic book hero.

The Deadline Hollywood article goes into A LOT of detail regarding the situation. http://www.deadline.com/2010/10/disn...uibution-deal/
If this is similar to the first two, Disney will have really no input into the production of Iron Man 3 ala Paramount with the first two. All Disney will be doing is acting as a distributor and nothing else.
However, Disney does own Marvel now... so... that could change dynamics a bit.

Remove the drunkin' birthday party scene and trim out about 15 minutes of that slogging middle act, and IM2 would have been a much better movie.

What disappoints me the most is almost (if not all) Marvel movies have their final boss fight in the ending too short or too shoddy. Fantastic Four vs Dr. Doom, Iron Man 1 and 2, All 3 Spider-man films, and let's not forget our beloved Incredible Hulk (at least this film made up for its losses to an extent)

I'll give you F4 vs. Doom and Iron Man 1 & 2 but I'd hardly call Incredible Hulk vs. Abomination "too short".

Jon Favreau for Iron Man 3
So now he can't place himself in a 1/3 of the movie? Oh no!!!!!!!!
Jon Favreau will not be returning to the Marvel Universe for a third Iron Man film, Vulture reports.
The article suggests that the choice was made at the director's discretion and that he informed Marvel Studios of his decision this morning. Though Favreau's reasoning is purely speculatory at this stage, it is likely that the director simply wishes to pursue other creative ventures. With the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens hitting next summer and The Magic Kingdom in the early planning stages, Favreau should remain suitably busy for the time being.
