Exactly... one of the most 'real life' endings to a movie. But most people don't like 'real' endings..they want the 'fairytale' or 'comedic' ending, which throws them off on Last American Virgin.

My biggest beef was it had no ending. Some may call it a brilliant ending. IMO it didn't fit with the movie. Imagine if "Se7en" ended with the cops driving away with John Doe in the car.

Duh.
The studio insisted on adding a subplot about the scavengers, and their mine, because they didn't think that audiences would grasp the fact that MINE in the title refers to Davidge's relationship with Jeriba Shigan, and not about a mine with miners.

^ OMG. All these years, I've never made the dual connection to the mining operation. I always naturally assumed the title referred to "my enemy". Duh indeed.

Agreed. Cheesy film, AWESOME soundtrack, and an ending I still remember a couple decades later.

Superbad's supergay ending was awful. The two main characters boink each other in a drunken stupor then go shopping at the Gap to wash away their guilt.

I'm guessing the attempt was to remain faithful to the feel of the novel's conclusion. The novel ends with
The film, while possessing similarities in character names and overall plot, detracts from the novel quite a bit, but this may have been a way to provide the same sort of feel.

Years later I got it as a Gilliam-esque take on a fable ending, but wowie!
