The first one resurrected and changed the slasher genre!?
I liked it but come one!
I need to see some red band gore, before deciding on this one

I was disappointed with the first one but didn't hate it so much that I wouldn't at least rent the sequel.
And it looks like it stars Danielle Harris which is a big plus for me...

Liked the first one, but of course, for the set pieces and FX work, which were refreshingly gruesome, inventive and done practically.
Didn't find Victor Crowley the most compelling "horror icon" and I kinda hope they fix the suit up a little bit for this one, which was one nitpicky flaw in the first film for me.
Also, hope they don't lose the tone of the original... which was pretty tongue in cheek.
Hopefully, this doesn't disappoint like the Feast sequels did for me.
I'll see it.

I didn't like the first film and all this self-proclaimed "modern classic" shit the filmmakers keep pushing is pretty obnoxious. I may catch the second one when it hits HBO.

The first one was a truly awful film. I say this coming from a person who owns it, and will watch it for at least a little while if it is on one of the movie channels if its on and there is not much else on to watch. Victor Crowley is out of control, only because Victor Crowley does not know what control is.
I admit that I will watch this sequel as well even though I know it will be equally awful, but somehow the slightest bit enjoyable......

I thought the first was OK and will gladly watch the sequel, hopefully it's better than 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams. I didn't think it was the end all be all of slashers and with the whole marketing of it as "original" it sure as heck felt like Jason in the Swamp

Movie comes out this friday, and in a first since the mid 80's they are actually gonna release it Unrated, as Green has said they would have to cut out a hell of a lot to get an R rating, and according to imdb, AMC saw the uncut version, liked it, and agreed to distribute it that way. So here's the theater listings for everyone on friday

I wish it were playing closer to me. As it stands, I'm not driving all the way to Boston to see it.

I had a blast with the first one, thought it was goofy and very entertaining, so I'm in for this one as well.

I enjoyed the first one; I remember thinking it was impressive how quick and fun it was.
I am happy to support unrated horror, but I thought the sequel was a pretty massive letdown. It meanders on with stacks of mildly entertaining exposition. The movie feels sloppy in direction and editing (many of the things that are meant to be happening are obscured or shot awkwardly to avoid needing a complicated special effect. And the gore, while entertaining and plentiful, didn't seem to really merit all of this "unrated" nonsense in the first place. I thought Piranha was gorier.
If I were reviewing it, maybe 1.5 stars.

I went out today to go see the 6:15 showing and i go buy tickets and i see that it's all sold out, so i go to the actual counter to talk to a human being and they tell me AMC decided to cancel the movie last minute because they realized it was UNRATED. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS RELEASE!
Then i went to the little customer service area and they basically told me that they realized last night that it was unrated and they couldn't show it unless they wanted a big fine.
Is this only a Montreal thing? or hell even a Canadian thing?
Did anyone else got their Hatchet II canceled?

For those asking, yes Montreal and Toronto have apparently pulled #Hatchet2 due to confusion on the non-rating. But please don't [...] blame the cinemas. It's not their fault that they could be fined for playing an unrated film. Thank them for trying! All love.
