SKYLINE (2010) - (Strause Brothers)

Re: SKYLINE (2010) - (Strause Brothers)
I will say that the one cast name in SKYLINE that interests me is Brittany Daniel. I thought she was pretty hot in WHITE CHICKS.
(P.S. I don't need to see the film to comment on the cast. There's absolutely no comparison between the casts of INDEPENDENCE DAY and SKYLINE.)

Wow, users on DVDTalk are panning a film before release. Thats a first. Why don't we wait til Friday, until someone actually sees it before you start talking shit.
Anyways, agree about the cast but the effects and ads got me intrigued. Hey if it stinks I'll be the first to admit it but I'll have to see it first.

Everytime I see that movie poster on the streets, I want to look for the Sci-fi TV channel label in the corner saying, "Premieres on November, 8:00 PM Eastern Time, only on the Sci-Fi Channel".
I bet Eric Balfour is thinking, "this is gonna be my breakout film which will finally get me famous, or maybe as famous as Sharlto Copley"

Guy looks like a prick.

Let's make a movie that's similar to District 9.
Let's make a movie that rhymes with District 9.
Let's have an unknown cast like District 9.
Let's release the movie during a similar time slot to District 9.
Let's get some directors with some really cool sounding last names like "something...Brothers".
And oh yeah, let's get the sci-fi channel to produce the film!

Not even close to the "same time slot as District 9". That movie opened in Mid-August, this one is opening early November.

I'm seeing the film on Thursday.
I'm interested in it, but even I have a good feeling it's going to be shit. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but Rogue being involved doesn't make me feel too good about it.

I have to say the premise does have me interested, but the execution of this looks horrid. I do have a thing for alien invasion and big monster flicks, but not ones that look cheap and take themselves too seriously. Please let us know if it is a piece of crap, as I will use that as a deciding factor.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for alien invasaion movies, but this looks like it could, at the least, be entertaining and fun. I'm expecting ID4 on a smaller scale.

No reviews at RT yet. If this is not being screened for any critics before its release date that does not bode well for it.

I'm really, really hoping this doesn't turn people off to Battle Los Angeles, but I guess we'll see.

It looks like a glitzy, stupid, fun sci-fi movie. Geesh, enough already. See it if you want, don't if you don't.

If you really feel this way, every thread in movie talk should be locked with this quote of yours at the top of every thread for the rest of eternity. People can discuss it if they want, even if it's mostly negative.

To clarify what's going on:
In the Las Vegas market, mostly because the "press" is an advertiser of most promotional screenings (i.e. Las Vegas Review Journal, Las Vegas Citylife, Las Vegas Weekly, etc); you'll see members of the press at these special advance screenings rather than the press having their own screenings (like how it is in some of the major markets). Since these special advance screenings occur before the film is officially released, it gives them time to put together a review and publish it in time for the film's release. The companies running the screenings will usually save a few rows of seats for the press, friends of the company, guests from the studio, blah blah blah blah.
Vegas isn't that big in the film market despite us being one of the rare cities that has a lot of technological advances in the theater industry going for it (DLP projectors now triumph over 35mm [with most being 4k] in the city, theaters equipped with Dolby Digital 7.1, D-BOX, yadda yadda yadda).
Clerks 2, out of all films, was one of the rare times I actually went to a press-only screening in Vegas. To be honest, it's one of the rare times a press-only screening has been held in Vegas. It was an amazing screening. Almost nobody in the theater, nearly two weeks prior to release on a Monday morning... and having all my dreams of what Clerks 2 was going to be like, just shit upon by Kevin Smith.

Perhaps. All Rogue needs to do at this point is keep showing the same money shots in the marketing and they will likely be in profit by Sunday night due to geek and teen interest alone. Reviews don't usually help or hinder a movie like this until the second week comes around.
Keep in mind Rogue didn't screen MY SOUL TO TAKE either, and look how well that turned out.

Hard to believe anyone is looking forward to this. There is NO doubt it's going to a bad movie. I can't wait to read the reviews and the feedback on this thread once this opens.
