I could see how this would disappoint. The expectations around here were through the roof for the most part, and I knew this wouldn't be all everyone claimed. I like the movie in kind of a guilty pleasure way.

I had a blast with this flick. To me, this was stallone's grindhouse flick - it was all over the place, violent, & just plain over the top.
I think people were expecting less comedy and more of a serious action type flick but whatever.....I dug it.

I agree. The humor seemed more tongue in cheek than typical of the action flicks of the 80s.

Pretty fucking solid. I like it a lot...AND it's in HD too. That's the ONE thing that pissed me off about Rambo Extended Cut w/ it's making of doc. It was in SD for that film's doc. Let me just quote The O on it from his BD review...
"Inferno: The Making of 'The Expendables'" (91:42) is a pure gift of a documentary. No connected featurettes, no talking heads, and no promotional filler. Just a feature-length excursion into the construction of this action spectacular. Actually, the piece sticks close to Stallone, who narrates the doc and acts as its focal point, observing the iconic star moving from pre-production to filming, taking on the Herculean task of making a colossal movie in a relatively short amount of time. We see the frustration, toil, bodily damage, and the camaraderie shared throughout the cast and crew. We also see Stallone work his army through exotic locations, dealing with weather and crew issues, capturing the strain of direction, especially from an established star reluctant to abandon his family to make a movie. The direction and editing of this documentary can't be beat, shaping the moviemaking events in an operatic fashion that matches the tone of "The Expendables" perfectly. This is wonderfully entertaining and informative material, placing the viewer into the thick of Hollywood creation. It's divine.

For those of us around during the 80's action days, it's too bad he couldn't get more of those people involved. I know he approached VanDamme but he bagged. But did he try Norris? There were at least a half dozen straight to video action stars that can't be too terribly busy these days. Don "The Dragon" Wilson among others would have made for serious nostalgia and would be the right age to be hanging in there with Stallone and the other oldies.

He did ask Norris. Norris said no.
If anything...I wanted an action scene w/ Arnold, Sly, and Willis involved. I didn't get that. I hope to fucking get that in the sequel. And from Sly has mentioned...Willis could be the villain for the next one. Let's hope that a pumped up Arnold is in, bigger shootouts and fights, much better editing, less visually dark scenes, and if Arnold is in...get The Rock on his team. On that team w/ Arnold? Arnold, The Rock, and Kurt Russell. Get 2 other guys and I'm good. But I want Russell in there. I'd LOVE to see Donnie Yen too but...seems he's doing VERY good w/ his HK work atm.

I believe Chuck Norris is semi-retired now. I e-mailed his official web site last year to ask if he was done acting and his rep replied back that he's only focused right now on promoting his World Combat League (martial arts league) It doesn't surprise me that he passed on working plus he just turned 70 in March.
Edit: Apparently Chuck Norris is the Czech T-Mobile spokesperson

The beard hides his age...
Honestly...I like Chuck Norris as a personality more than I do for his films. I liked him in Walker, Texas Ranger as a kid...that show ain't so good now. LOVE Silent Rage though...Dad liked him a lot so I like him a lot too..but......in very few films.
Again...I'd like to see the Dillon and Dutch handshake. Seeing that thing would make me cry out of awesome.

Yeah but given Stallone had a bad experience getting Carl Wethers to appear in Rocky Balboa, I wouldn't hold my breath for him to appear in The Expendables 2.
I still watch Walker from time to time. And Chuck Norris sure as hell doesn't look 70. I'd love to at least see him in a Mickey Rourke type role (but with the added bonus of at least one action sequence).

Unfortunately I can't remember the names but there was a chick who did some stunt work and released a couple DTV flicks that were pretty cool, tons o' karate, little dialogue just to get drom one fight to another. There was another guy who was a good fighter, trained under Ed Parker had a couple good movies

Stallone said numerous times he wanted to use more old footage for highlights and such. Weathers declined, so he only used that little segment on Sportscenter with Drago and Mr. T only.

Didn't Stallone call him Apollo Greed after that?
I know Chuck was having his stunt double most of the big fight scenes in Walker for several years. But I think he could have made it through a couple scenes without having a heart attack.

Did some stunt work. Check
couple of DTV flicks. Check
Answer= I've no idea who the fuck you're talking about. Is she Asian, American or what?
I'd love to see some more foreign action stars in the sequel for sure. Grab Cyril Raffaelli (France) and put him on Arnold's team.
See look what you're making me do. You're making get all giddy for a film that doesn't even exist yet. YET.
Hell....I'd like for some female action stars to join in too but...you know...so few of them are still game from that era. Michelle Yeoh for sure could kick ass w/ the rest of them. I'd love to see Yukari Oshima IF they went w/ some gals. Last I heard she does some tourism stuff in Fukuoka, Japan.

Really? I don't even remember him in The Transporter. What scene was it? Totally forgot about his fight w/ Li. Yeah...that was cool. More foreign action badasses please.

In the deleted scenes of the DVD, the fight was quite a bit longer and showed how well Cyril Rafaelli can fight in such a tiny space.

Oh ok..cool. Oddly enough..I thought that film was boring and generic. Statham in just his scenes made it an ok experience. Were 2 & 3 any better?

Just finished watching this. By far the worst shaky-cam I have seen in a movie yet. It ruined the action scenes for the most part. The last 20 minutes were just a blur. I couldn't tell who was fighting and WTF they were doing. Thumbs down on this piece of shit.

It is indeed a hunk of crud. A true piece of crap. Hopefully Stallone will fade away. Enough already with this weezing geezer and his bad action movies.
