Re: One Movie Wonder?

I've been lurking on the forums for the longest time, but I cannot stand to let this thread go any longer without mention of Nia Vardalos.

Re: One Movie Wonder?

James Murray, the star of King Vidor's THE CROWD (1928), in which he plays a loser who can't seem to make it in New York despite having a wife and child to support. Joe Franklin wrote, "...his real life existence later proved to be a tragically exaggerated parody of the role he here played so magnificently."
Murray hit the skids afterward and once asked Vidor for money to buy liquor. A few years after his success in THE CROWD, he was found dead, floating in a river. Accident or suicide? No one knew.

Old Yeller, from Old Yeller. Didn't have quite the career Lassie, Benji or Beethoven had.

Re: One Movie Wonder?

I thought TREAT WILLIAMS would be a bigger star after seeing him in HAIR. I was always happy that he had a big villain role in THE PHANTOM.

First four that popped into my head:

Patrick Fugit in Almost Famous
Wes Bentley in American Beauty
Haing S. Ngor in The Killing Fields
Brandon Routh in Superman Returns

Re: One Movie Wonder?

Jaye Davdison in The Crying Game.

Yes, I'm aware he was in "Stargate", but (a) it wasn't that big a movie when it was released, and (b) he was such a non-presence that, let's face it, ANYONE could have done that role.

Re: One Movie Wonder?

Florrie Dugger who played Blousy Brown in Bugsy Malone
Richard O'Brien - Riff Raff in Rocky Horror Picture Show
Kay Lenz in Breezy, never really topped that.

John Lydon in Corrupt (aka Cop Killer) - okay that's a joke.

From what I've read, he didn't want to act beyond Crying Game, so he took StarGate for a million dollars to basically set himself up good financially, then quit the business to become involved with fashion.

Re: One Movie Wonder?

Jason Scott Lee

i loved Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and thought he was a revelation and now seems relegated to C-movie and DTV status.

Max Pomeranc. He has done very, very movie little acting since. His was one of the best performances from a child of that age I have ever seen.
