If HitGirl had been HitBoy, none of us would ever have heard of that movie.

There's probably a LOT of truth in that. It would have been a live-action "south park" character or Bart Simpson up there.

That it was a girl made it different enough, and probably shattered whatever stereotypes people have about these things.

Every woman I know that saw this movie loved it in large thanks to Hit Girl. I don't see guys attaching to it more if it were Hit Boy. So in otherwords, it would have fared worse.

I would like to add that the main little boy characters that do the cool martial arts scenes in THE LAST AIRBENDER and IRON MONKEY are played by girls.

The movie would have been more popular if they would have marketed Hitgirl more. I walked away from the movie thinking hitgirl was the best part of the movie...and they hardly used her in promotions of the film. A girl kicking ass and stealing the movie probally would have sold more tickets to girls.

Really? It wasn't that graphic. In the comic it was graphic. I mean, HG got her ass kicked. Though I do reel back a bit when D'Amico knocks HG down in the film, it just looked like it was really fast and very painful. Violence isn't pretty. Yes, we watch films that make it cool. But it's not wrong to be disturbed by violence. I think the violence was justified and needed considering that a lot of shit happened to everyone else.

...because Robin's superhero gear gets so sticky all the time whenever he "gives a hand" to Batman. Robin gets pretty messy after Batman's explosiveness: SPLATT! GOOP! FLURP! UHHGG! GLURPP!
