Shia trashes Indy IV

I didn't like it taking place in the 50s or having to do with aliens. I always felt that Indiana Jones was tied to that pulp era, and the Aliens with big eyes ala Communion didn't really start till the 70s/80s, right?
It just didn't feel right to me. If they would have made the aliens a little more throwback, or maybe had a story tied to the Lovecraft mythos, that would have felt more natural. Actually, no aliens.

Also, the fun just wasn't there. 90% of the movie just felt too depressing and lifeless for an Indy film. The only time the movie was alive for me was in the warehouse scene.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE is a masterpiece for the ages. People will be enjoying that one long after Spielberg and Lucas are dead and buried and Indiana Jones has been long forgotten. And besides, it's a true story, didn't y' know? As Criswell so eloquently put it, "Can you prove it didn't happen?"

I thought River Pheonix was great in the last crusade as a young Indy, and I would have liked to see an actor of his caliber to have played Mutt. Shia just never came off to me like the son of Indiana Jones.
I really don't have a problem with Shia in general, but I do think he is getting more attention in Hollywood than he probably deserves.

I agree. As much as I LOVE the Indy character. Indy 4 should've not been made. Especially w/ how SS talked about it was a very old school film. It wasn't. When I think Indy I think dangerous stunts that are done for real. Bare minimum CGI etc. And a pretty dang cool story. Indy IV didn't have that. It just felt rushed.
Raiders-Was amazing
Temple-Was pretty damn good too, too dark for some and that may have polerized them
Crusade-Was good too...maybe a bit TOO much humor but it was good. (This is my fav cuz I grew up w/ it but I know Raiders is the best one)

If it was Martin Scorsese, I could take it seriously. But this douche!?
He's obviously doing this to win some new fans. Unfortunately, I judge actors based on one thing only, their performances.
If he felt so strongly about this that he had to make a public statement, he should have given the check back, too. I might have respected that.
