Isn't Lucas still trying to get him to appear in Indy 5? Three generations of Jones men in one movie could be a lot of fun.

I don't think he's been the same since he lost his eyesight

There's also an interview with him in the new issue of GQ:

Cool interview. Hackman sounds like an solid man's man. I hope we get one last film out of him.

I'd love for him to give a solid last performance...Newman had it good.

Re: Is Gene Hackman okay?

Hackman was in an episode of "Diners, Drive-in's and Dives" on the Food Network last year. He just happened to be in some diner in New Mexico when Guy Fieri's show was filming there. He was interviewed briefly and seemed as cool and down to earth as ever.

I too miss him on the big screen.

He seems to be doing quite well too, living in Santa Fe. Funny tidbit was when asked if he missed acting. He responded he goes downtown to where they film a lot if movies in Santa Fe, and went so far as to talk to a casting agent on set if they needed any extras. They turned him away saying they had enough.

Fuck that casting agent.

It's sad that Hack-man isn't in films anymore. His last film should not be Welcome to Mooseport.

From an episode of South Park, can't help hearing his name the way it's said:

And Sean Connery's last shouldn't be The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Hackman, Connery, and Clint Eastwood should get together for one last film as actors - not something mainstream, but a nice little character study about three friends.

But in Indy 4, they mentioned that his father (Connery) had passed away a few years prior to the last film; so it's unlikely that Connery would make an appearence in the 5th film.

Actually they don't say he passed away. It is implied that Marcus Brody and Henry Jones both passed away. However, the wording is "Brutal couple of years, huh, Charlie? First Dad, then Marcus." To which Charles replies "We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away."

So obviously the dad is no longer with them but all that it takes to bring him back is to say he was lost and presumed dead after an adventure that took place between The Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Re: Is Gene Hackman okay?

all born in 1930.

Hack-man needs to do another film, has to do another film. Please, another film!
Connery should do another film.
Eastwood has been making films so I'll give him a pass, plus I'm sure he will do another.

Yeah, I remember that. But, again, they could simply say he was lost and presumed dead. We never see Indy visit his grave or anyone mention how Henry may have died.

Re: Is Gene Hackman okay?

I finally saw Bonnie and Clyde early this morning (couldn't sleep). Wow, was Hackman manic in that! It was like watching Robin Williams, only this was an actual performance and not a guy running amok because that's what he does. I know fans dog Welcome to Mooseport and yeah, I can see how it's a disappointing last entry in his filmography, but I thought it was alright.

If you think of it as a coda, rather than the last chapter, then that leaves Runaway Jury as his "last" film. I don't even remember that one. Don't recall Behind Enemy Lines, either, which was the film before that. I did see, and enjoy, The Royal Tenenbaums. In fact, looking over his filmography, I think many fans should just be appreciative he kept making movies until he did Tenenbaums because most everything after Enemy of the State (1998) seems forgettable except Tenenbaums.

Re: Is Gene Hackman okay?

Hackman and Connery didn't go out w/ a bang as they say..

While I liked Eastwoods (supposed) last acting job in Gran Torino. I'd like for him to something as his last performance in front of the cam. I'm happy for whatever he's directing next.
