Just watched this on blu-ray. Decent enough, I suppose, but far from great. I blame mostly Favreau's direction and the lack of a decent score. It shouldn't be that hard to have a "goosebumps moment" in a superhero movie. Most of the Superman films have one (or more), even most of the Star Treks, for crying out loud. There just isn't any pathos or gravitas given to any of the characters in this film to make you care, and no cavalry-riding-in moments to wow you.

Honestly I didn't think much of the first beyond the fact that it was a good film that did a very good job of introducing a lesser-known superhero. I don't see how this one could be much different from the first.

Also, and it looks like I'm the only one that may have noticed this, but isn't Seth MacFarlane one of the party-goers at Tony's b-day bash?

I finally watched this yesterday. The plot was weak and there seemed to be less action than the first movie. The one scene that really bothered me was one moment Tony was in the Monaco (or Morocco, wherever they were...) restaurant bathroom talking to himself, and the next he's in full racing gear getting into his Indy car. No transition whatsoever for the amount of time that would have taken.
Also the hammer of Thor scene did nothing for me since I really know nothing about Thor.
Didn't see him, but I did recognize who I'm pretty sure was Anya from Deal or No Deal:

did you really need every moment of time spelled out for you? this wasn't/isn't "24"

I'm sure Cap's shield held little interest for you as well
