Jason Bailey's "review" of Nice Guy Johnny
Did you watch the same movie I did? You have missed the entire point of the movie. If Johnny was a tall, older-looking Abercrombie model, like Brooke would have gone for in the past, then the story wouldn't have been compelling in any way. Hot guy meets girl, girl falls in love wasn't the plot. Brooke had to fall in love with someone she and the audience never would have expected. Johnny had to fall in love with someone he could only have in a dream. And as for Bush looking young, he actually is 24. People at 24 sometimes look younger than others. Burns had to make it seem genuine that Terry's nephew was to young for marriage--he's just a kid, and Bush's appearance helped make the even more true. As for being a radio show host, the whole idea was that he wasn't the best (he had a terrible time slot), but he loved what he did. Bush's voice didn't bother me in the least bit. Other actors like Michael Cera have high-pitched voices, but I doubt you slammed them for it. Shame on you for watching a movie filled with heart and trying to find ways to knock it down. You watched this movie and tried to find as many harsh things to say about it as possible so it would be more likely for people to read your column. If Bush was such a terrible actor, people would have left the theater, he was in almost every scene. Instead the audience loved the movie, you could feel the excitement in the theater. You should find another job-- maybe one where you only have to talk to your cats.

I'm just a fan. I was at the premiere on Friday and everyone I was with loved it. I love Ed Burn films and I thought this was one of his best. I just don't get why Jason Bailey hated on it so much.

and....why did you post it here? There's a review thread. Also....I think your post could've been 2 paragraphs. Again I think Bailey has an email too. Email him and have an educated discussion with him.

why do so many people sign up just to bash a DVDTalk Reviewer? i just don't get it.
Mod Note: The shorthand on personal attacks is "attack the post, not the person." I would say that extends to the review staff as well. If you have an issue with a particular review, feel free to bring that up.

Folks, there's a link at the bottom of every review encouraging people to comment on the forums. No point in getting bent out of shape about it. Worst case scenario it gets us a new member who isn't here to spam for Del Monte.

After we had a huge argument about the meaning of Mulholland Dr., my cats never talk to me about movies anymore. Writing for DVDTalk is my only option
