Hobo With A Shotgun

For those who remember when Grindhouse came out, Robert Rodriguez held a contest to see who could create the best Grindhouse trailer and Jason Eisner's Hobo With A Shotgun was the winner:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1LlazPgxKrA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1LlazPgxKrA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Well, now it's being made into a full-length feature with Rutger Hauer as the hobo!

anyway, just a taste of brand new footage on the official site.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7k8H20SBRFA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7k8H20SBRFA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Looks cool, now we kinda un-officially have Grindhouse 2 with Machete coming out this fall.

Interesting. They went from a 70s grindhouse feel to more of a mid-80s low budget action movie feel. It now reminds me of a Cannon Films release.

So instead of looking like Death Wish, it now looks like Death Wish 3?

Indeed. Not sure which I prefer, but I am intrigued.

I'm amazed it looks so good and by that I mean what's on the visual palette used. Dunno about the content but...I'm game for it.

Re: Hobo With A Shotgun

Maybe. I loved the trailer, but would love to see the original guy in the film. The director seems to have talent, but I was less crazy about Treevenge, so we'll see.

Re: Hobo With A Shotgun

Apparently David Brunt (the original hobo) is going to be a cop in this one. I would have liked to see him as the hobo, but Rutger Hauer is an awesome choice as well.

For some reason, I can never embed videos...if somebody would oblige.

Re: Hobo With A Shotgun

I'm worried this film is going to kick off a wave of class violence across America.

Re: Hobo With A Shotgun

Does Rutger Hauer ever decide to phone in a performance? He looks like he's worth the price of admission, even if the movie is just so-so.

every performance by him is phoned in...the great part is that he's always at the top of his game so the phoned in ones? They're still fucking badass.

Re: Hobo With A Shotgun

Lance Henriksen would've been badasser, but Hauer will do. At least they kept the child-molesting Santa Claus.
