What Movie Makes You [Want to] Cry?
I've never cried on a movie, but there are movies that makes me sad...here's my list:
1) Little Miss Sunshine - IDK why, but when they drive off, it just makes me sad
2) Runaways, The - Amazing ending.
that's it.
and I saw Marley & Me and didn't cry.

Speaking of Transformers, I'll never forget going to see The Transformers: The Movie in '86. Not only was it sheer awesomeness (then and now, I don't care what anyone else says), but my mom actually did cry when Optimus Prime died. (I don't consider this spoiler-worthy because it happens in the first 20 minutes, and I think everyone who has any interest whatsoever by now knows all about it.)
The opening montage of Up hit me very hard. Somewhere there's a thread about that movie and I went back and forth with a few different members for what seemed like several pages of posts if you're interested in what I have to say about it.
I am curious, since we're on the subject: has anyone else found themselves more emotionally affected as they've gotten older? I remember being told that growing up meant not being emotional, and that life was unfeeling, blah, blah, blah. I went through a cynical phase where I could sniff out an attempt to evoke an emotional reaction three scenes away, and it automatically lowered my opinion of the movie. Now, I find myself practically looking for any excuse to invest myself emotionally in a story, a character, even just a scene.
I don't want to go too far off-topic here (especially being just a few posts into this thread), but a great example is Knocked Up, when Leslie Mann confronts Paul Rudd about fantasy baseball. The part of me that's a husband totally got that scene, and while I felt rewarded about his articulation about his needs, I also felt guilty when she expressed hers. I'm sure most viewers were busy waiting for something to make them laugh, or to get back to Seth Rogen/Katherine Heigl, but for me that was the scene where I fell in love with that movie.

"Marley & Me" got me. I had to put my 17-year-old dog to sleep a few months before I saw it and the end of that movie just hit too close to home.
Also, "Field Of Dreams". If the end of that film doesn't get you, you have no soul. I remember the first time I saw it in the theater - It was one of those times when I knew absolutely nothing about the film and it took me on an incredible journey. And the ending - I did not see that coming and it blew me away. As many times as I've seen the film, I still get choked up.

Finding Neverland-I had lost a loved one about three months prior, and the part at the end where Freddie Highmore talks to Depp about thinking "she would always be around" really got me.
The ending of Heat doesn't make me cry as much as get me emotional. It's almost a picture perfect ending to a perfect movie, and the way the Moby music segues into the credits is great.
Transformers 2 almost made me cry, but for entirely different reasons. More like tears of frustration of seeing something you held in high regard destroyed by a bunch of Hollywood a-holes.

Re-watched this last night with the new Blu-rays and it never fails to get me, too. I meant to include it, but somehow my response segued from E.T. to Transformers to 2007 and I was lucky enough to remember Up. Pixar did an astounding job moving from joy to loneliness, and the false hope at the end is absolutely crushing. I think this has a lot to do with why I favor this movie over its predecessor.

Actually, this brings up a question. Why weren't all those threads about the same thing merged? If, as toddly6666 characterizes them, they're the thread equivalent of double-dips, why not create "Movies That Make You Cry: Super Comprehensive Deluxe Ultimate All-Time Inclusive Edition" thread?
