Not defending Ratner at all.. but I didnt mind Red Dragon... nor do I specifically blame him for X3

They're really going to ask Grodin back? He's in his late 70s. I guess the "Midnight Run" will be to the bathroom?

Neither was Red Dragon either, if you ignore all the Internet hate for it.
Even though I don't like seeing Brett Ratner's name on a movie, he is just kind of a "run of the mill" workman director and not really a truly awful director like the Real Hacks of Hollywood (such as Michael Bay).

Family Man wasn't bad? Really? The same movie with the revoltingly obnoxious cliche of the "adorable precocious child with a lisp who spells out the movie's meaning in a way that makes your average episode of Full House seem like an Ozu-ish exercise in subtlety"?
Okay then...
Okay then...

This could be one of the most quoted comedies of all-time. I still don't understand why this never gets listed higher when they rank all-time great comedies, this is in my 10 personaly.

I'm not saying it hilareous or even the best line of the movie, but the way Deniro and Grodin play off of each other with lines like this, it was pretty funny.
Then again, its just my opinion, so I'm not trying to convince you that you should laugh

I actually thought Red Dragon was terribly directed, same goes for X3. They both had content issues as well but both could have been at least partially salvaged by better direction. X3 was full of total and complete cheese, Red Dragon felt poorly staged for a majority of the time (though I also swear Ed Norton was phoning it in).
I actually did enjoy Tower Heist.

This is one of my favorite movies, as they don't make comedies like this anymore: Good acting, good story, funny as hell, and you actually care about the characters! Do directors understand this concept anymore???? In saying that, please don't do a sequel!!!!
My favorite line:
Deniro's ex-wife's kid talking to Grodin:
Kid: You don't look like a criminal?
Grodin: I'm a white collar criminal!

Another good exchange from the film:
THE DUKE - Jack, this is very difficult.
WALSH - (Re: vitamins)
What are you, a drug addict?
THE DUKE - No, these are vitamins.
WALSH - You piss ninety percent of that out
of your system.
THE DUKE - I'm not going to discuss nutrition
with a man who eats deep-fried food
and smokes cigarettes. And by the
way, people who smoke should take
extra vitamin C. If you'd like, I
could outline a complete program for
you.
WALSH - Mail it to me from "C" Block.
THE DUKE - I don't think you're as mean as you
pretend to be. Why do you smoke? You
know it's not good for you.
WALSH - I don't think about it.
THE DUKE - Well, that's living in denial.
WALSH - I'm aware of that.
THE DUKE - That sounds kind of foolish. Don't
you think, Jack?
WALSH - No. Stealing fifteen million dollars
from Jimmy Serrano sounds foolish.
THE DUKE - I didn't think I'd get caught.
WALSH - That's living in denial.

Quite possibly the most unnecessary sequel ever. Well, maybe not 20 years ago.
Re: Ratner. I actually loved "Red Dragon". But had to turn "Tower Heist" off after 15 minutes. Horrible screenplay.

I like to think that Philip Baker Hall was playing the same character in Midnight Run and Hard Eight. In both films, he is a man with mob connections in Las Vegas named Sidney. Although, the latter film spelled it "Sydney." If they do this sequel, they should bring him back.

I recorded the original off HD last week, watched it yesterday...
HOLY SHIT - how had I never seen this film?
It's completely solid from start to finish. There wasn't a single moment where I wasn't enjoying the hell out of it. DeNiro & Grodin work so well on screen together it's ridiculous. And the rest of the cast is equally as impressive. Endlessly quotable, completely hilarious. I ordered a copy of the HD DVD right after it ended.
I didn't realize they did 3 sequels to the film in 1994, all starring Christopher McDonald taking over for DeNiro. I'm sure they're terrible.
