but in this case, it not only makes sense but was an integral part of the plot. Remember the wayne knight character? He was stealing dinosaur dna for a rival company and was trying to get to the ship before it left, but he got lost because of the storm and ran off the road.
I'm assuming the op just hasn't seen the movie in a while. Otherwise, she slept through some key scenes.

Really? You're going to be that guy? A thread asking plot details about a movie is probably going to have spoilers in it. If you haven't seen the movie and kept reading past the first post, you're asking for trouble. But OK, I'll go add tags. Will you be asking everyone else to do the same?

Re: Question about Jurassic Park
One thing that always stuck with me about the evacuation, and I can't quote it right now, but it seems that I worked out the implied travel time and ETA of the storm and the ferry was very likely to be caught up in it at sea. All things considered, it seems to me you'd be better off staying put.
Also, as I recall, Sam Jackson's character notes how long until the ferry leaves before the Explorers stop outside the triceratops pen. Then, the tric's vet offers to drive Satler back to the compound (so she can stay and spend some more time with the triceratops) in his jeep. Now, we never see him again so I assume that since Satler is, in fact, back at the compound when we next see her that he made it onto the ferry after dropping her off at the compound. And yet, in all the time it took him to do this, the Explorers only managed to return to the T-rex paddock? Nedry barely made it out of the compound in the same time?

Well, yeah. But then, nobody wanted to listen to Ian Malcolm and stay the hell away from a chaotic island of unpredictable dinosaurs, so I suppose scoffing at being on the water in a tempest is in character.

I just wonder about the use of the sound. Nedry wasn't really comic relief, so to have that right before he dies makes the sound that much more out of place.

You're not too far off. Raptors from another planet, who have evolved to intelligence and space travel, travel back in time preventing the asteroid from hitting Earth, wiping out the velociraptors. Humans never evolve on Earth. Kirk takes the Enterprise back in time to prehistoric Earth to stop them and set the time line right.
