I have to imagine this is just a rumor. Spielberg is still alive and well and is still making movies. I really don't think they'd do that and I think even if they did Steve would spell about it.

I don't care who they get to play what, the 3D shark needs giant googly eyes.

You pretty much nailed what the new Piranha 3-D movie is going to be...well except the 30ft great white part.

And a more original story, better dialogue, better acting, better action scenes ...

I still think the rumor about Casablanca with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez is the worst remake rumor ever.

Jaws? Why not? At this point, I am no longer surprised or outraged at remakes. Sure, I think it's stupid and I wouldn't have any interest in it, but considering that King Kong was remade, and more than once, is Jaws really that untouchable in the grand scheme of things? Besides, if it gets us a remastered version of the original on BD, and helps fund some real movies, it will be worth it.

I never saw Jaws 3-D in 3-D, so might you elaborate on how it was better than that of Avatar?

What I would find interesting is if Jaws was remade by Spielberg himself to see what the film would be like 35 years later in his career. Hitchcock did this and I am sure other directors have it would be interesting. I think that the "Jaws" Spielberg just had much more edge than he does now. I am not sure he could even pull it off

oddly enough he has changed a lot personally. When Jaws was made he wasn't a family man. Now he is. This is further reflected and proven by his words in the Close Encounters features from the DVD/Blu on how he wouldn't have done things the way he did if he was the man he is now.

all the victims would show up at the end and be alive.

Dennis Quaid. Sea World. Giant shark. All in 3D. Need I say more?

I've actually got a soft spot for Jaws 3D, but it's not in any way a good movie.

I thought you were referring to the quality of the 3-D, which I always figured was laughable and gimmicky.

As for the movie itself, I also have a soft spot. Not a good one, no, but great as a guilty pleasure.

That might have been valid if Spielberg hadn't replaced Brody's gun with a walkie talkie.

Hmm.. good point.

BUT, perhaps they forced the shark to watch tinkered with Lucas and Spielberg films a-la 'A Clockwork Orange'.

THEN they had it coming.

I don't know which rumor is worse: Akira or The Third Man with Leonardo DiCaprio.

The shark would be digitally replaced by those funny little fish that they use to give pedicures. (Somebody beat me to the walkie talkie joke ...)

It's a bit difficult to discern from the way you've worded it, but if you think Leonardo DiCaprio was going to star in a live-action Akira (which one would be led to believe from the mention of The Third Man)adaptation, you are mistaken. DiCaprio's Appian Way production company is doing Akira (with the Hughes Bros. at the helm), but Leo never planned to star, contrary to internet assumptions.

There are 2 obituaries out there that say that there cant be a remake of Jaws. How can you remake the "Indianapolis" speech? You cant. Ever again.
