How often do you go to the cinema?
In the past I went more than 2 times in a month to the cinema. But today it is to expensive for me.
The other point is that I like it more to watch the movies on my Blu-Ray player at home in a better quality.

I used to go maybe half-a-dozen times a year, but at this point, it's pretty rare that I go, maybe one or two times a year. Price is my main issue. Well, that and getting a babysitter, but mainly price.

I used to go a lot... sometimes twice in a week. I would never go more than a couple weeks without making it to a movie.
Now, I almost never go.
It takes a "you have to see it on the big screen" movie like Avatar to get me in the theater.
Otherwise I am content to watch at home.
Theaters (tickets and snacks) are too expensive, and people behave like animals.

I put 4 to 6 times, and the only reason I go that much is that I get free tickets. The prices for movies here in NYC are outrageous and it is just not worth the price anymore.

1-3 times. Last year was actually high, I think I saw three new movies in the theater, but at least one of those I was invited to.
I don't normally have a problem with other people - it's time and money. If it's a movie suitable for my boy, then we're buying three tickets and popcorn and drink (I know you don't "have" to but popcorn is part of the moviegoing experience for me). Even the discounted tickets from the credit union, or a matinee, is 7.00 or so, and regular price is closer to 10, so that puts you into full-price DVD land. If it's an adult movie, finding a babysitter can add 20-30 bucks to it.
And some movies, while good, don't really benefit from being in a theater. To really make it "worth while", the movie needs to be "big", audially and/or visually. I'm also not really interested in many new releases, and I feel a little guilty paying 20-40 bucks for a movie when I've got tons of unwatched movies at home and a nice TV/sound system to play them on.
In college the student center played a different movie every night, from new releases to cult classics to foreign films, 2.00 a ticket or you could buy a 10-movie pass for 15.00. I went through three or four of those passes a year easily. But the convenience, price, and variety couldn't be beat.

Usually once a month.
No complaints here.

Same here. Used to be very low until I began going to special screenings which are patronized by people who respect films and the screening process to a whole other level compared to the future prison population found at general cinemas; at least based on my experiences.
2009 General Cinema:
District 9
Star Trek
Inglourious Basterds
Terminator Salvation
2009 Special Screenings:
Jaws
Terminator
Black Dynamite
Would be a lot more if I lived closer to an independent theater.

My exact situation. People are consistantly becoming more inconsiderate assholes and blu-ray is awesome. Last movie I saw in theaters was Gran Torino, though we'll eventually get in to see Avatar once the crowds thin out.

Re: How often do you go to the cinema?
Usually once a week... I tend to go at times when the theatres arent too busy (I have no problem getting up on Sat or Sun and going to a 10am show to avoid the douches) and dont typically go on Fri Sat nights. I just really enjoy seeing movies in a theatre. I have a pretty nice HT but it still doesnt compare to me. One thing you have to watch for in NYC if you go to early matinees is the meth heads who hang out and theatre hop or the older people who go to the movies once in a while. They are both much more annoying then any teenager with a cell phone or couple with a young child.

Last year at this time, I averaged about 1x per week. The past several months I have only seen 1 movie I think. My DVR content (HD shows and movies) is largely to blame.

I guess I'm lucky that I rarely have to put up with douchebags at the theater. In fact, the last time was Constantine, so I stopped going to that movie theater and problem solved - save for one time at an arthouse theater when the audio blew out in the last 10 minutes of Day Watch.
That aside, haven't had a problem since.

Usually at least once a month, but it all depends on what's out that I want to see. I also go to a lot of revival screenings, so that pads my count a bit.

1-3 times a year. Very rare. Prices are way too high and I can't stand people making noise.

Re: How often do you go to the cinema?
I generally go 50-60 times a year - about half the time I go to the megaplex and the other half to the local arthouse (which, generally, has slightly more respectful audiences.)
Even though I now have a Blu-ray player and a nice TV I still feel that there's something about the theater that can't be replicated in the home (and I don't mean the chatting old couples and the teenagers with cell phones.) Of course, I'm able to avoid a lot of the annoyances related to large audiences by mostly only going to matinee showings.

Re: How often do you go to the cinema?
A couple of times per year, at most. And those are times when I usually have movie cash of some kind. Guess I'm cheap. Plus, with small children, it's difficult/expensive to do so as a family or to make arrangements to go without them.

I go at least once a week. I'd like to go about three times a week but I don't have the opportunity to do so as much as in the past.
