2010 Theatrical Viewings:



Shutter Island - Great thriller about probably would be a 5 if it wasn't for the entirely predictable ending (even if you haven't read the book)


Repo Men - Better then I expected. A solid gory Sci-Fi Action movie, just don't expect anything mindblowing
Edge of Darkness - Not really much that say. Average thriller


Cop Out - Not one of Kevin Smith's best movies but it has a few laughs and Willis/Morgan are likable.
The Wolfman - Low expectations that it couldn't even meet. Might be ok if you are a huge horror fan but definitely not something that will turn you around if you don't.

-Been wanting to watch it for years and bought the Trilogy Blu-Ray at the Flea Market and it pretty much lived up to expectations.

Twilight(2008) on BLU-RAY B-
-Went in knowing there was a Twilight craze that wasn't unlike my feelings for the Harry Potter series,but wasn't expecting much,and got pleasantly surprised.

Inglorious Basterds(2009) on BLU-RAY A+
-Fantastic movie,this even coming from somebody that HATES having to read movies.

Black Dynamite on BLU-RAY B
-Went into this movie COMPLETELY BLIND and really dug this goofy little B-flick.

Poultrygeist Night of the Chicken Dead on BLU-RAY BIG F**KING F
-Went in expecting something fun and got what was essentially a Zombie Porn Flick. Hated it so much that I didn't finish it.

-Better than the reviews I read made it out to be. Good little Sci-Fi-ish Action Super B-Movie.

Why this movie got so much hype I have no idea. I will still say its a masterpiece compared to Poultrygeist.

Fun brainless little action movie. Will be awaiting Crank 3.

Another fun brainless little action movie. Loved "The Reaper's" death in the movie. "You just can't kill me",BAM! Haha

I finally watched this classic movie. Tom Hanks deserved the Best Actor Oscar that this role rewarded him with. What a performance.

After all the good reviews I was highly disappointed. Extremely Boring.

A good movie,and another great outing from Tom Hanks.

A good fun ride.

I actually like this better than the 1st 2 as I loved the whole Theme Park setting as I've always been a fan on Disney World & Universal Studios,and the setting of this movie poked alot of fun at them.

Watchmen The Ultimate Cut A-
While not a personal favorite or a particulay rewatchable film,it was a great movie,and I'm looking forward to watched the Director's Cut's Maximum Movie Mode and the Watchmen Motion Comics to compare.

Couple's Retreat C-
It was just ok and not a high rewatchability factor like some movies I rate around the same(like Knight and Day),so I will probably just stick with the rental and not buy it.

2010 Releases
Cop Out B+
-Kevin Smith has had much better movies,and I had a high hope for this movie,but still a likeable movie.

The Crazies B-
-Better than I expected tho I haven't seen the original

Legion B+
-Good,but I was expecting way to much from the trailer and got a big letdown but still a good movie.

Leap Year C+
-I liked it but it was a letdown seeing as I can see the same general story put in a better movie but Amy Adams was great in it as always

Alice in Wonderland 3D B
-I went in expecting very little,because while it has been a very long time since I saw the original Disney Animated "Classic" I remember hating the movie so I thought that this was a good reimagining.

The Bounty Hunter C+
This movie did not live up to expectations,I still liked it but not as much as I thought I would.

Date Night A-
Only read part of the DVD Talk reviews and saw no actual trailer or tv spot for the movie but I loved it,just a fun popcorn flick. Best movie of the year so far.

Kick-Ass B+
Didn't live up to expectations based on the trailer,but still a fun flick. My #2 movie of the year so far.
UPDATE:After a second viewing I am raising Kick-Ass' B+ to a SOLID A+. Highly rewatchable,and now beats out Date Night for favorite movie of the year so far. Hoping Iron Man II lives up to expectations.

Iron Man II A-
Was IMO better than the 1st,and a few great action scenes with Whiplash vs Iron Man and the Iron Man/War Machine vs Whiplash/Iron Men Robots. Not as good as Kick-Ass tho.

The Stranger D
After Austin's The Condemned I was expecting much more and got a confusing and rather bland action movie.

Wrong Side of Town C+
Heard alot of horrible reviews and it was actually kinda entertaining.

Shrek Forever After B+
My personal favorite from the Shrek franchise,and a good movie and hey it was made for kids so of course its not gonna blow me outta the water I mean its not Pixar.....

It's Complicated C+
Not as good as I had heard but not that bad. Alec Baldwin was funny as hell tho.

Defendor C
I know it was a DTV outing but I expected a better movie than what I got,kinda a cross between Zombieland and Kick-Ass.

Damage C
Not nearly as good as Austin's Condemded but much better than The Stranger.

Killers D-
What a stupid ending. Had a few good action scenes and a few funny moments,but how the fuck does that ending make sense?

Marmaduke C-
Hey its a movie aimed for kids and I have no real complaints it was good for what it was.

Prince of Persia:Sands of Time B-
Never played the games so that might play a hand as to why I liked the movie more than others but it was a fun popcorn flick.

Toy Story 3-D A-
The best kids movie this year so far,and while a great movie not as rewatchable as some of the other lesser reviewed movies on my list,but I will add it to my Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box,2-Disc DVD,and Blu-Ray collection.

Edge of Darkness B-
Good little thriller. Sadly this is probably Gibson;s last hurrah all things considered.

From Paris With Love C+
I liked it. The ending didn;t make a whole lotta sense but it was still some fun action. Wish it wasn't a Blind Buy tho. Sticks to a rental really.

Knight and Day C+
Not as good as the previews made it out to be but I'll probably buy it upon release as it seems like a movie that will grow on me on repeated viewings.

Despicable Me B
Not as good as Shrek 4 but still pretty funny.

Twilight Saga:Eclipse B+
After just reading the spoilers for New Moon,and seeing the 1st earlier this year I went in with semi-high expectations seeing as I loved the 1st and the previews looked like the "War" was gonna kick ass,which it kinda did,but not as good or long enough to give it any higher a rating.

Predators A-
Really better than I thought it was gonna be. Went in only seeing 1 TV Spot and just knowing it was Predator Part III(or technically V) and it blew me away. Nice action really loved the Predator on Predator action towards the end. Oh and I really loved that one of the people that died died,because I can't stand the actor(happens about 1 hour 10 mins in) CSI is the clue as to who died.

The Other Guys C
Wow what a letdown,really boring at times,and just wasn't as good as the previews made it look. The Jackson/Rock scenes save this movie from a lower rating.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World A
My 2nd favorite movie of the year,even tho the movie was more over the top than even the previews made in look,but can't wait for the Blu-Ray to come out and it better be packed,and knowing Edgar Wright=It will be!

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Sweden) - I will be very surprised if there is a superior thriller this year.


Shutter Island - An involving, very well executed throwback.
Mother (Korean) - An intriguing, relatively well made thriller with a few nice twists.


Daybreakers - Derivative but about as close to a successful live action anime as I've seen.


Book of Eli - Great ideas, poor execution, dull and preachy.

How To Train Your Dragon: 4/5

I really enjoyed it. Much better than I thought it would be. It has a good story with heart , good music (both majestic and gentle and romantic) and some scenes make nice use of 3D. I liked how it doesn't rely on in-your-face pop culture references which ensures the film won't date too much.
I liked the way it ended and wasn't expecting that. And the relationships in the film seemed believable, even though the relationship between Astrid (the girl he fancied) and Hiccup is high-school/middle school students as Vikings (gives you something to relate to), as a whole the film is surprisingly unanachronistic.
I liked the way they showed the relationship between father and son and the way Hiccup could be a hero - but just in a different way to what you'd expect.
Really surprised by how much I liked it
