Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

OK, I loath Boll as much as the next guy, but when I see a fairly good review (even from someone as inconsistent as Mr. Disgusting) I have to notice. Maybe Boll is evolving as a director? I seriously doubt it and expect it to be more shit from one of the most consistently bad directors of our time. Here is the Bloody-Disgusting.com review: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/4388/review

The movie seems to be about a teenager who goes "Columbine" on his entire town. Kind of what I expected Postal to be.

If there is one thing that can get the internet kids on Bolls side, it's a movie about a kid on a shooting spree. Especially when some angry parents groups complain about it.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

Sounds dumb. Mr. Disgusting complemented the 'Cloverfield & MI:3-like' camera. I'm sure it'll be down there with Postal and whatnot. I can complement Boll by saying that I expect to watch this movie someday (unlike that Kings-something movie he did).

Boll can do whatever he likes. And maybe I'll catch it on DVD or cable. Just don't expect me to get excited about stuff like this.

And, yes, I also assumed that it was going to be a Rampage, ape smash building movie, too.

I was thinking about the game too when I read the title, and now I'm disappointed it's not based on the game

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

I just watched this film online after noticing the eye-catching DVD cover in stores earlier today. The movie looked interesting after reading the summary and then I saw that Boll directed it, so I was curious to see this. I've seen a couple of his films and think they are pretty awful, but this is Boll's masterpiece. I'm not saying the film is a masterpiece, but RAMPAGE is just as good violence porn as Gaspar Noe's IRREVERSIBLE, for example. I would have not guessed that Boll directed this film. It's an 84-minute exciting, intense thrill ride from start to finish. The acting is good. The story is interesting. It's a good violent genre film. I'm happy that Boll finally made a good film that fits his shtick.

This movie is ANTI-IRON MAN! It's like a demented remake of FALLING DOWN. And Brendan Fletcher deserves a good villain role now. He sort of is a cross between Christian Slater (in his prime) and Heath Ledger.

Great horror film and I hope Uwe Boll makes more films like this.

A reviewer at my buddy's site gave it a positive review so I'm definitely interested in checking it out.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

As I was watching this film, I was thinking that it was like a Larry Clark film produced by Jerry Bruckhiemer. I wouldn't buy this film on DVD, but definitely worth a rental (for movie violence fans). It's probably the most intense exciting violent film i've seen since TAKEN.

Interesting, though IRREVERSIBLE is much more than 'violence porn'. Just to have Boll mentioned in the same breath as Noe is almost surreal.

I will seek this out though.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

Well it looks like Uwe Boll is keeping Michael Pare in steady work.

That being said, I feel bad for anyone who watches this if its another one of Boll's improvised scripts. He came close to making a decent movie with Tunnel Rats, but the improv and horrible ending sunk it.

I'd complain about how lame this is, and how you should be supporting films and those who make them, but this is Dr. Boll we're talking about here.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

I would also like to add that if there are any fans of the video game GRAND THEFT AUTO, well here is your movie!

The more I think about this film, I really think this is a great genre film. There really is nothing poorly done with this film. The acting, editing, pacing, camerwork are all professionally done. Sometimes when you read the summary of a movie, it sounds better than the actual film itself. Well, this film follows through with what it wants to do. Eventhough it's at 6.2 at imdb (Uwe Boll's highest rated film), it deserves a rating of at least 7 points. I only think it's getting a 6.2 because people are aware that it's an Uwe Boll film and have a lot of hatred towards him.

The build-up to the rampage in this film is just as intense and similarly filmed as the main bank robbery scene in Michael Mann's HEAT. And there is one awesome Kevlar suit scene where the main character croutches up/turns his back using himself as a shield as the cops rain bullets on him, waits till their guns are empty, and then pops back up to shoot down the cops.

That's why I downloaded this as well - it's "Uwe Boll." I'm now curious to rent the DVD and hear how the audio is on this movie!

For what it's worth Boll was one of those people pressing his distributor to sue downloaders of his last turd, "Far Cry." I believe they netted a few thousand IPs and sent out quite a few $1200 settlement letters.

I don't advocate downloading at all, but for those who don't care, keep this in mind.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

I've heard pretty decent things about this one, too. I've been looking forward to checking it out... and it's streaming on Netflix, so.. added. There's something about Uwe I respect (note: it's not his film-making ability)... if anyone listens to the Creative Screenwriting podcast the interview with him is very, very good. He calls out Michael Bay for being no better than him and it makes for a solid listen.

Also, I know, I know... it can be a semantics thing or whatnot, but Irreversible it NOT 'violence porn.' Not at all IMHO.

Re: Rampage: The New Ewe Boll Film

I never thought of Irreversible as "violence porn" There's very little of it actually. It's just..that little of it is very extreme. I actually thought of it as a serious dramatic film.
