The guy had a nice NFL career, has written a couple of books and speaks on a motivational speaking tour. I doubt money is his issue.

He chafed at the dumb, near mentally disabled, black kid that was adopted by the white angels ever since he was portrayed that way in the movie. I think this conservatorship vs actually being adopted thing was the final nail for him thus the lawsuit.

It's also Leigh Anne Tuohy's story, and Sean Tuohy' story. It's the little son's story, the tutor's story, the football coach's story. They are all real people who are characters in the movie, which does not claim to be a true story, but just based on one.

They are lucky it came out in 2009 and was a theatrical release that made a lot of money.

If it came out today it would end up on Disney + and less revenue for the Tuohy family.
