Could be some, but Blind Side is great counter-programming, as it aims to a group of different interests.

Yeah it aims at another subset of dim bulbs.

liked the article, liked this even more:

"I'd love the opportunity to do a director's cut of the film, because what people saw in the theaters, even though I'm proud of it, wasn't the fully realized version of the movie.

Not sure why ther are so many comments about race there should not be... but my son and I loved it.

It is just a good feel good movie case closed. The fact that it is based on a true story even makes it better.

IMHO it is great counter programming for all of the teenagers that are seeing the other "big" vampire movie.

Why anyone thinks it has to be aimed at "dim bulbs" is beyond me.

It's sitting here on my desk (OFCS-provided year-end awards screener), but I haven't watched it yet. I might not have watched it at all were it not for the surprisingly strong reviews.

Watch it, I think you will enjoy it.

Actually I would like to see your review on it. On this site your reviews are ones I at least put a little stock in.

Off topic the extra mile you went with the Spring Break DVD was fantastic. You don't see that very often.

You won't meet a more cynical and critical person than me, but I actually enjoyed this film. Sure, it's not award level. But it was a pleasant day out at the movies (matinee). A true crowd pleaser. I can definitely see word of mouth carrying this to 150M or more. Nice little film.

I never wanted to see this movie because Bullock always makes crap and it looks like a TV movie of the week.

I doubt I'll see it unless it's for free, but living in the midwest, I can promise you that nearly everyone here is raving about the film.

It's getting outstanding word of mouth and I bet it rakes in $175 million before it's done.

Funny thing, people who have seen the film like it and people who haven't seen it hate it.

I agree with most here who have seen it. Not in any way a perfect movie, somewhat manipulative, somewhat cliched but mostly moving, entertaining and enjoyable.

Wanted to see this yesterday at a matinee but it was sold-out. I guess Sandra Bullock as a sassy southern woman in a movie with football as a focal point has lots of appeal in the rural southeast.

I should probably mention that this quote is in regards to The Alamo, and not this film. I never saw Alamo, but his cut sounds like it might be worth a watch.

I really enjoyed it! I thought the casting was perfect and the story was great. I am a big sports fan too and coming from LSU, it was nice seeing Saban in that movie for a bit!

Is Saban really that slick in real life? No wonder he gets whatever recruits he wants, he just charms the heck out of the moms.

I think all great recruiters are essentially used car salesmen.

Thanks. I don't know if I'll be reviewing The Blind Side, but I did watch it yesterday and agree that it was shockingly good. I think a good comparison would be Jerry Maguire. JM is a better movie, but they both represent approximately the same mixture of comedy, drama and inspirational sports story, with good acting and a small but reasonable amount of corniness, with excellent acting from Quinton Aaron. Off the top of my head, I might rank his performance third behind Max Records from Where the Wild Things Are and Sharlto Copley from District 9 as my favorite of the year.

Saw it last night and enjoyed it. Yes some parts were a bit cliched, but it was a moving story. Saw it at a 9 PM showing and the theater was maybe half full.

re: The Blind Side - Sandra Bullock

I caught a matinee with the girlfriend this morning and thought it was somewhat enjoyable. It's nothing particularly special so i'm surprised at the great box office return, but it was a decent way to spend a morning at the theater and the story was pretty good. I actually thought it would be far more manipulative as far as some of the dramatic scenes in the movie goes, but it never really got there which probably ended up being a good thing for me since it would have been a bit too sappy. I didn't even know the father was Tim McGraw.

And I still hate little kids in movies.

I enjoyed this film quite a bit.

To all the movie snobs (and I consider myself one of them) take a chance because you might like this one.

It's nowhere close to as corny as I thought it was going to be.

Plus, Sandra Bullock's ass looks amazing.

Did it? Being a happily married man I really didn't notice.

Surprised I liked this one too. The wife wanted to see it, I didn't. But I didn't mind the kid at all. He's not of the acting caliber of say the kid in The Road, but he looked like he was just having a blast doing the movie. That hyper-enthusiasm worked for this film.

Wife and I saw this tonight. We both enjoyed it quite a bit. It was definitely better than I was expecting it to be, at any rate.
