Nope. The gentleman seen obscured here has had an unremarkable acting career (I thought his debut was in a late '80s sexy horror thriller; the IMDB shows he had TV and movie credits preceding that). He did have a small but very funny part on a network TV comedy series recently.

I'm convincing myself I see Tommy Lee Jones in the second shot ... I'll guess The Hunted even though I haven't seen it, since it stars Jones and Best Supporting Actor winner Benecio Del Toro, and the two other shots might fit the movie.

One cast member originated a role in film that was a big box office success of the 1970s, and reprised it in a sequel that was not a big box office success. The role was taken on by another actor in two movies released in the 2000s, neither of which could be called big box office successes. If one weren't sure of who this is, mentioning the country both actors are from would make it a lot easier to guess.

The second shot is from the Bastiani outpost's ill-fated mission to survey and claim one of the surrounding snow-covered mountains for their (unnamed) country.



Filmed at the spectacular Arg-é Bam in southeastern Iran; the site was destroyed in an earthquake in 2003.
