I'd like to see her movies do well so she keeps getting roles. That's all it boils down to.

Agree. While it's crap that a crap movie is a hit, it's bittersweet as I do admire the talent involved and like to see them succeed. Hopefully this means "Ralphie" gets another chance to make a movie and hone his skills. I also hope Malin Akerman gets some notoriety, as she is talented as long as she is in the right genre (comedy).

Couples Retreat is a date movie with a case that attracts the younger crowd. Of course it would be #1. However, Paranormal Activity. Holy shit!

Will this have legs like Blair Witch Project did? I doubt it, I think it will fizzle out way short of BW, but it will still make a ton of money.

I had never heard of it until this thread. Blair Witch numbers are out of the question. In fact, I doubt movie with such a micro-budget ever has that kind of ridiculous success again. I liked Blair Witch by the way, and that it was a monumental achievement. Excited to check out Paranormal Acitivity.

I added to "Love Happens" box-office totals this weekend. But only because the girl I went out with wanted to see it, and I wanted to be with her, which meant I wanted to see it.

Well the thing with BW is that it had a ton of hype leading up to it. You didn't have this silly "Demand It!" website, but rather a Sci-Fi Mockumentary which i'm sure fooled a ton of people in those days, where not everybody had the Internet at the time.

I agree with your post.

I would not want to be in a relationship with anyone who wants to see Love Happens. You must be bordering on desperation.

Most movies seemed to have really decent holds this weekend. The Invention of Lying is the only one registering a drop worse than 45%.

Waited a long time to go out with her, so I'll take any bone she'll throw me (don't go there, sickos).

it's nice to have one of these threads without "you know who" raping it.

Surprising considering:

1. Is rated PG-13.
2. Rated R, but only runs 81 minutes.
3. Is rated PG and runs 90 minutes.
4. Runs over 180 minutes, but is rated G and made by PIXAR.
5. Rated R, but only runs 86 minutes.
6. Is rated PG-13 and runs 89 minutes.
7. Is rated PG-13 and runs 99 minutes.
8. Is rated PG-13 and runs 111 minutes (oh, so close).
9. Rated R and runs 120 minutes. Winner winner chicken dinner! Oh wait, it's got a liberal agenda. Oh wait, we're not talking about the other "you know who."
10. Is rated PG and runs 107 minutes.

Eh, not all week can have it's winners.

I will state this that I've seen all of the films in the top six and would recommend all of them with the exception of Couples Retreat and Surrogates, two films I would classify as some of the worst I've seen all year.
