If I'm not mistaken, it was shelved for approximately two years. So some exec is probably breathing a sigh of relief.

^Part of that shelving had to do with T.I. going to jail (he's a producer on this as well, so they wanted him around to do press etc.) ...but the movie sucked either way.

This movie was laughably bad. Even poor Matt Dillon couldn't save it. How a disjointed piece of shit like this was even green lit was beyond me. The thing is the audience was full of kids, which was its target audience, but you could have had the stars of the movie getting ice cream on the beach and they still would have flocked to it like rabid dogs. I can honestly say this was the worst movie I've seen in theaters this entire year. Like I said in the weekly box office thread, I had most of the plot figured out in the first 20 minutes of the movie. The ending wasn't even a twist.
It's not like I expected a real high quality film but the acting was forced and I didn't like how they kept throwing these side-plots in for some of the characters to sort of make you feel sympathetic for them. I wasn't feeling any of it.
My friend and I both agreed this had a real direct-to-video vibe. I really liked most of the cast, but as a whole this script was severely suffering.

No true resolution at all.

I saw this movie, but it wasn't worth putting forth the effort for even a mini-review, but, if asked, I'd give it a grade of D.

Definitely not the height of cinema, but I enjoyed it regardless.

well, Armond White supposedly thinks its better than 'The Town'.
So, based upon that, know that 'The Town' is much better and 'Takers' sucks.

Yeah but he also said Scott Pilgrim was better than Inception...I might agree w/ him on that. Not for the same reason cuz I'm sure he spilled bullshit on that review to favor his opinion but still...SP was pretty damn good.

SP was good. I thought Inception was good. The Town was pretty good. Takers....well, I don't think I need to say much there.
Saying SP was better than Inception isn't crazy since SP was very well done, but saying Takers was better than The Town is just the reason AW is a douche that no one can take seriously.
I'm sure Ben Affleck raped his wife or something.
I thought 'Takers' had a great trailer. Absolutely hilarious. Just so stupid, kinda like a heist movie for people who liked 'The Fast and the Furious'.

I disliked both this and The Town, and maybe this less so because it didn't try nearly as hard.

Okay I'm in the extreme minority, but I thought this was movie was really fun. Just finished watching the DVD that I rented from Netflix and I had a blast watching it. Fun action packed heist movie with lots of action. And I liked most of the cast too, especially Idris Elba, who pulls off the cool badass mutha fucker very well.

Redboxed this tonight... wow, TI cannot act worth crap!
Chris Brown getting his parkour on and the cops still keeping up with him was LOL funny!
The action was decent, the characters were paper thin, heck they even acknowledged that they were ripping off "The Italian Job."
Come to think of it, I just might put TIJ in tonight as a palette cleanser.

Even my 13-year old daughter recognized this. About three minutes into his first scene she looks at me and asks, "Hey Mom, can he act?" I had to let her know her feelings were correct.
Oh, and Zoe Saldana had little more than a cameo in this movie.

Having seen both, and blasphemous as it may be to some, I have a preference for that "wretched" remake, Norton's stilted/uncaring acting and all.
