Yeah, Goldeneye is the probably the best Bond within it's formula. Royale kinda changes that and it came out fantastic..and very believable. QoS was a bit too much of the cliched Bond formula but it was ok, just not a Bond film I wanted.

Pierce Brosnan was the worst Bond. Seriously.

I worry if this is true. Fox will fuck this shit up hardcore.

I can't stand the new bond, hope they do get a new person. Personally the last two was very bad. That's just my opinion.

The idea of him getting his hands on the Bond films, especially after their successful restart, could very well be worrisome.

From the OP, it looks like this is on the distribution and marketing side.

Mr. Salty, The Bus; Finkpish already pointed that out.

Brosnan was clearly cut from the same cloth as Moore. His movies and Moore's movies focused most heavily on humor and gadgets. I still think his movies fared better than Moore's, if only because Brosnan never looked like a geriatric in any of his films.

As for Lazenby, I think he gave a thoroughly underrated performance and On Her Majesty's Secret Service may very well be my second favorite Bond film after From Russia With Love.

LICENCE TO KILL (1989), with Timothy Dalton - the only decent Bond movie made since ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (1969).

Balderdash... LTK has the WORST acting in the history of the Bond franchise (from everyone EXCEPT Dalton) and a tired storyline. I prefer The Living Daylights, a more straightforward yet thrilling Bond adventure (easily in my top 5).

The Brosnan Bonds are interesting. I like them all for different reasons. GOLDENEYE is a really good Bond in the "classic" mold, daftly mixing Connery's grit with Moore's cheeky fun. TOMORROW NEVER DIES is sort of a big 90s action film mixed with generic-to-silly Bond elements, but it works for what it is. I actually like THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH a lot, despite its flaws (Ms. Richards and lack of a thrilling finale). DIE ANOTHER DAY is 1/2 of a great Bond film, 1/2 of a totally ridiculous one.

Die Another Day was the greatest Bond film ever until Bond left Cuba and left the good screenwriting there. When he's back in England, it turned into an okay Bond movie. Once he got to Iceland (or wherever the hell the climax took place), it turned into a shitty Bond movie. Although the dueling cars sequence was entertaining.

Always happy to have a new Bond movie and will take it on it's own merits.

I also like Goldeneye over Casino Royale. Not a fan of the introspective/moody trend these days, take that Lifetime channel twaddle elsewhere. The Connery Bonds didn't have to resort to that melodramatic nonsense to be great, they simply had unique and creative plots and villains. Bond came from pulp tales not reader's digest. Also i thought Brosnan was a good Bond and Die Another Day was entertaining. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a great one agreed totally, the deeper theme yet also retain that pulpyness.

I thought Casino Royale was just a big long Sony commercial. Don't get the many love on that one.

Agreed, somewhat.

I'll give you, QoS was weak, but nothing in the Brosnan era can even touch Casino Royale.

The opening title songs!! For one.

And yet CASINO ROYALE came straight from the novel, albeit with an extended intro.

The Fleming books were not pulp novels.

Yeah those totally shitty Madonna, Garbage, and Sheryl Crow songs were something else!
