First off, i apologize in advance if i confuse anyone with my post, as English is not my first language.

I and a friend of mine are trying to figure out the name of a movie, as it was recommended by someone and that person did not remember the name either. All we have is the storyline and we know that it's a European movie but the spoken language is not English. Could be Norwegian or Finnish. Not more than 5 years old.

The storyline: A policeman from the city gets transferred to a small town after some trouble with his ex-wife. This town has a bog/pond where the locals are dumping bodies. A group of locals who like to play cards. A local who is a wife beater. A little girl who pushes a shopping cart around the town streets.

I tried searching the storyline on google but didn't come up with anything.

I believe the film you are describing is the 2008 Danish movie Terribly Happy (aka Frygtelig lykkelig).



Synopsis:
Temporarily reassigned to the provincial Danish town of South Jutland after being accused of professional misconduct in Copenhagen, a by-the-books policeman begins to sense that the flowery facade of this picturesque hamlet masks something truly sinister in this dark drama based on author Erling Jepsen's novel of the same name. Constable Robert isn't used to life in the country, so when he's first confronted by the small-town customs of South Jutland he begins to feel as if he's drifted into some kind of all-too-quaint alternate reality. But perhaps his suspicion that everything here is just a little too perfect isn't just the result of simple culture shock, because the more Constable Robert gets to know about his new surroundings the more convinced he becomes that the community of South Jutland harbors a disturbing secret.

After reading that description and the following synopsis, it sounds exactly like Hot Fuzz.

I wonder if Wright or Pegg have ever heard of this film and what'd they think of it?

Yeah, as I was reading the description, I was thinking it sounded just like Hot Fuzz as well. I might have to look into this one.

I want to see this now cuz it does sound like someone making Hot Fuzz into a serious toned film.

Trailer for the film..and it does really really remind me of Hot Fuzz especially in the beginning of the trailer.

After watching that trailer this thing definitely looks like a Hot Fuzz clone, only without the humor. I'd like to see it.

I don't know Lene Christensen, but those other three actors are really good.

I just noticed that the video i put up leaves an odd and semi interesting shot of that girls thigh.

I saw it at a film festival last year. Pretty good.

It's a black comedy... more like 'Blood Simple' than 'Hot Fuzz'.

Watched the movie, highly recommended (if you don’t need explosions every 10 minutes). Definitely a dark/black comedy thriller. Brilliant Dane backwaters scenery. Good acting. Interesting story. You think you know where the movie is headed but it does not quite end up where you think it would, that kept it interesting all the way through. Overall a very satisfying experience.

Looks like the Region 2 dvd is out of print and there is no US release.

Where can I get this?
