Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?
Looks like production is about to roll on Matt Reeves' remake of Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In. It stars The Road's Kodi-Smit McPhee in the Oskar role (renamed Owen) and potentially Chloe Morentz as Eli (renamed Abby). The weirdest change so far, though, is currently being reported on by Production Weekly and Bloody-Disgusting...that the title has been changed from Let Me In (which JoBlo says is the American name for the book) to Fish Head...?
Who the hell is going to see a movie called Fish Head? |
Re: Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?
Could it be that "Fish Head" is just a production title to throw people off? Not the first time it's happened during pre-production/production, but I don't see a studio backing a remake when a majority of the people know it as Let the Right One In (or even the English translated Let Me In).
I think Alfredson's adaptation of the novel was brilliant, but I could also see a much darker adaptation of the source material. My only concern is if they delve too deep within the origin material of Eli. It wasn't the strongest portion of the book and if the American adaptation delves deeper into that, I feel it may come off as it's trying to jump on the bandwagon of Twilight and True Blood. The first film adaptation worked because it made the audience try and figure it out rather than spell it out. |

it's matt reeves (cloverfield)...i'm sure "fish head" is just the production title.

Great, now I'm going to have "Fish heads, fish heads, rolly polly fish heads ..." in my head for the rest of the day ...

They can call it whatever they want, it'll never be as good as the original.

whatever happens, let's not have Magnolia pick up the rights for the DVD & Blu-ray :)

Re: Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?
I saw someone saying the 'Fish Head' title was the name the bully boys were calling the boy(Oskar) instead of 'piggy' and etc. in this film.

Agreed. Bill Paxton's Fish Heads short was nothing short of a masterpiece.

Love the original, good to know they got capable child actors on board (haven't seen their stuff yet). Richard Jenkins is an automatic draw for me.

I just watched the original, because of all the good things I've heard about it on here, and I don't see how they can remake it any worse. That movie was so boring I'm surprised I made it all the way through.

Script review of Matt Reeves' remake: http://www.mypdfscripts.com/featured...iews-let-me-in
A lot of text, but in a nutshell, this will be an almost exact shot-by-shot remake of the original Swedish film. Scenes are re-arranged to make the film go at a faster pace, but it's practically the original Swedish film made for American audiences. Matt Reeves can go eat a dick. :thmbsdwn: I thought we were going to get a more faithful adaptation of the original novel? Something a bit "edgier" than the film that also peeks into the back story. Nope. Same exact film, just dumbed down for American audiences. Great. I know what I wont be seeing. |

*sigh* Can't believe they're remaking this.

Re: Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?
shrug. Maybe their put more gore in the movie (and they'll probably cut out the nudity from the movie)

Rory's First Kiss was one of my favorite movies of last year.

If it's a shot-for-shot remake, count me out.

How can you tell if it's a "shot-for-shot" remake from a screenplay.

I guess we can change the subject header to Let Me In (Reeves, 2010)?
