It's kind of funny that in the blurb it says her parents wouldn't let her watch the original because scary movies, well... scare her and that she's never been doused in blood before. Now I know scary and gory are two completely different things (and Let the Right One In and Kick-Ass are COMPLETELY different movies, of course), but it's just a little funny coming from Hit Girl and her parents.

Also, that picture is terrible. What the hell? I could take a more atmospheric and quality image with my cellphone.

Not digging the "official" title as much either.

Still likely seeing it, of course. :)

The L.A. Times has an article up about the film, and also supplies this new picture;

The sad thing is that..well....it seems like it's going to be a shot for shot of the film minus some stuff for us prudish Americans.

I hope it's not but..yeah...I do have an interest in this film solely cuz I want to see how it fares facing the original.

I don't like how she has a big warm hoodie on.

It looks like she is wearing shorts with the hoodie though.

Yes, unless you can find a "Lock and Key" party to attend instead.

Yes.

You should go, report back how bad it sucks, and then we'll all pile the fuck on and make this a thread to remember!

How much worse can it be than the original?

A lot?

Given how dull and predictable the original was, I can't imagine the remake being much worse.

The original is the best vampire film ever made, so...

Hardly.

.....I wouldn't go that far but it's one of the few vampire films I do give a damn about. A lot of crap in that sub genre. Dunno which one is the "best" but Nosferatu is on that list of the greatest for sure...now where's my US BD of this thing?!

Groucho 06-26-10 10:36 PM

Re: Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?

Given that the original film is less "vampire film" and more "bully revenge fantasy", I suspect your reaction to it depends very much on how you were treated in school.

True. I really don't think there are too many good vampire flicks out there... Let the Right One In being one of the exceptions.

I really like Nosferatu and From Dusk Till Dawn but the genre is severely lacking in quality films... although I absolutely love True Blood.

Re: Let the Right One In remake Let Me In...aka Fish Head?

I'm in the camp that thinks Let The Right One In was not that great. "Best Vampire Movie"? hmmmmm. It certainly gets a lot of love. I just don't share it. I easily put 30 Days Of Night and Innocent Blood ahead of it, and that's just off the top of my head.

Speaking of which, where's our OAR Innocent Blood anyway?

On topic, I will say I'm curious how the remake will differ. Like above, I can only see it being better (swimming pool scene was cool tho).

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. The vampire angle felt more tacked on than anything. It also doesn't help how utterly predictable the movie was, especially in regard to how they telegraphed the fact that
Spoiler:
Eli was a boy and Oskar was just being conned into being Håkan's replacement.

You'd be amazed how many people don't see that though. Out of all the film guys and gals in our class I and about 13 others saw that as what was happening. The total class is 200 people.

Wow, I thought that when I saw it but i wasn't sure. I'm glad someone else kinda confirmed that for me.

I'll see the remake. I liked the original, but I'm not "married" to it.
